I'm a bottom feeder when it comes to booze, always looking for cheap stuff that tastes good. McAfee's Benchmark (an off brand that may not be available everywhere) is probably my favorite. If you ever get a chance to try Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale you should do so, it's really good and packs a punch.

I'm a simple man - Jim Beam white label is fine, since my cocktail of choice is usually an Old Fashioned with way too much bitters.

That being said, my good friend from college has a craft distillery near Cincinnati - New Richmond Distilleries https://www.nrdistilleries.com/

It's really nice stuff, and good folks making it.

Bought a bottle of VO because I'm a peasant and don't know better. What's a really good Canadian whisky?

I once bought a bottle of Canadian Mist (I think that was the name) and was shocked at how good it was.
I picked up a bottle of that, and it's nice. Smooth, slightly sweet, and wheat forward, which is perfect for the BLOODY HOT WEATHER I'm dealing with at the moment.

Also: wonderfully cheap.

Not much of a drinker and never got into the oakey flavor of the bourbon but my buddy got some of this and if I was a sipper of fine whiskey I'd give this a good review. Very smooth and silky.
But that said I'm not much of a whiskey sipper.

That’s a good scotch ^. The stuff I keep in stock on my little shelf there

Makers mark I like the small releases very well
Old grandad 114 one of the very best whiskeys I’ve tried for the price. If you see it try it only around 30$
Wathens
Woodford double Oaked my Sam’s club has it for about 40$. Deserty sweet
Elijah Craig barrel proof. I usually only drink that if I have good company over
Four roses I like the single barrel releases.

One or two bottles of rye. Currently like the old forester. I also like their bourbons. (I’m currently out of those).
