I'm still baffled about the non-oiling issue on the PM800.I took the automatic pump out as Mark suggested & I tested it.It seemed to work just fine,so I put it back in.I pumped the manual button & it gave about 2 good squirts of oil at the pad, then it quit.It gets some oil to the pad,but very little.I'm wondering if the pump is working intermittently?I'm thinking of running some kerosene through it to see if it might help a partially sticking check valve.

Now here's a tale you've probably never heard before. Most folks buy their saws at a flea market, craig's list,FB marketplace,or somewhere similar.I just bought an Eager Beaver 2014 at the barbershop when I got my hair cut the other day.A fella the barber knows had the saw & asked him if he knew anyone who wanted it.The barber knew that I worked on older saws & I'd show him some pics of my latest work.So he kept the saw in his back room till I came in.I paid $15 for it not knowing anything about it.I checked the saw out the next day & fueled it up & got nothing.I primed the cartb & it fired, but that was it.That was just to check to see if it had spark.Today I pulled the cover off the carb & found why it wouldn't run.Whoever had been into the saw wasn't too bright. There was no fuel line coming from the tank to the primer bulb.Instead, the return line from the carb was attached to the primer bulb & another line from the bulb to the inlet on the carb. They had the line basically going in a circle with no incoming fuel.I just laughed when I saw that.I did find a section of old line in the tank with the fuel filter attached to it.Pretty funny actually.I did have a similar situation, but with a kill switch wire on a Pioneer Farmsaw about 6 yrs.ago.People do the strangest things,Lol.

I dropped off some stihls at the museum with mark but this followed me home. Mark knew I was looking to start a small McCullouch collection.

The collections don't stay small. I started with a non-working D-44 (given to me by a coworker) and then within 3 months I had two 10-10s and a 200!!

A great McCulloch to start a collection with.
I have a few others that were given to me but they’re just big old slow ones like a 1-41 ect. The only other one I think worth using is the power mac 6 my cousin gave me out of my current ones.

Rather than send this block across the country to have it bored, I decided to get setup to do it myself. I bought a new precision hone to finish it with, and spent a couple hours last night working on a solid way to mount and adjust the block in the 4 jaw. It's at .001" clearance right now.....so I have a couple of thousandths of bore yet to go. Should be able to take it the rest of the way with the hone and make a nice finish.

I bought a new billet rod to go with the NOS piston. I need someone with experience to tell me the proper way to install the pin. If this was a small block Chevy I'd heat the small end of the rod and slip the pin in. Is that the way to do these too?

Pretty much. It's an interference fit to the rod. I put the rod in the oven, pin in the freezer, and use assembly oil. I think the maximum clearance between the end of the rod and the outer edge of the rod bearing end caps is around .010". If you have a pin installation tool, it goes much faster usually.

Doing a little Google Foo tells me that 300F is the "correct" temp. I'll let you know how it goes.

What are you guys up your piston clearance? I like it a little tighter than some of the factory specs, the old specs are for no break in time and racing it right out of the machine shop! Lol.

I'm planning on .003. I'm all ears though. These Macs are new to me.

Ya .003–.004 , some of the kart forums state .0075-.0100 for race clearance. At .003 I like and extra long break in and letting it idle and get really warm before any cuts. I usually let my 101’s idle for at least a half hour with some revs for break-in before I make any cuts breaking that up several times
