OMG!! For a clutch cover.

I just meant to use putty for the little ones that were left that's all.

Yeah, that made sense. While looking at it tonight, I did just that, filled in the little dings and holes with the putty, smeared it in with my fingers. Just waiting for it to dry, then sand it down and give it another coat of primer to see if I got everything this time. I had significant pitting on the crank case cover and so I used the JB Weld to get it covered.

It's vintage....and it's black. Looks like a couple of guys don't want to lose the bidding war. That is unless that part is cover for something else being sold.

The saw starts runs and idles excellent. The compression is so good that you can pick the saw up by the starter handle and carry the saw without it falling to the ground. The manual oiler is working.

I just bought an SP60 & it looks like it had a throttle presence lever at one time,but looks to be missing.I'm trying to determine if it has a throttle lock pin,or if the TPL acts as the throttle lock.Any ideas?

Mine has the pin lock in the RH side of the handle, but... the IPL shows that both types were used. If it has the operator present lever slot in the handle, then it's pretty safe to assume you one that uses that lever.

Early SP60 models did not have the OPL (trigger release) and did have the pin type throttle lock.



There were some SP60 models that had an early type of OPL (trigger release) and the pin type throttle lock.



The last edition of the SP60 had the same OPL as the later 10 Series models with the throttle lock incorporated into the trigger release. Since McCulloch was good at using up existing inventory, they showed both options in the November 1976 IPL and gave the serial number break for which saws still used the pin type throttle lock.

Thanks guys.As usual I guess I'll wait till I get the saw to see what I actually have.The seller originally said it didn't have a throttle lock,then he messaged me after the sale & told me to check the saw when I get it as it may have one after all.

I'm supposed to get it by Sat.,but I'm having heart surgery on Fri.& I'm being kept overnight at the least,so I may not get to see it for a bit.

The ol' 1-42 finally made it off the time out shelf. I've been beating my head against the wall on this carb, turns out the replacement needle seat with the o-ring in the bottom you can shove the needle right in to where it'll never open. Decided to slow down and actually look at what I was doing this time around, she runs good now.

Nice!! I was looking at it, something didn't seem right and then I realized that one doesn't have the bottom brace to the handle like other of their large frame saws...looks weird without it. Glad it is running though!!

Not only does it not have the lower brace it's actually got a very OEM appearing cap on the handle.

It's a knub!! Yeah, I had to look up the IPL to verify that it doesn't have the lower brace. I wonder if the bottom of the saw has the two screw holes in case you wanted to add one.
