Does anyone have an IPL for an SP81, or can identify where this little plastic spacer goes? It fell out as i was disassembling the saw.

Got new seals installed and everything clean.
Dremelled out some casting flash from the exhaust port and smoothed that up a bit.

Should be ready to put together.
May have to order the lower front av bushing.

Dream - that should press into the oil cap. They often fall out...

Makes perfect sense Mark.
I believe i had just removed the oil tank/stuffer and was dealing with the leftover bar oil when something went "clink" and i found that little piece.
It looks like there may have originally been a tiny duckbill valve at some point. Makes sense, as it would have allowed positive pressure into the tank without letting bar oil leak back out.

It is!
That saw had supposedly been sitting since the late 1980s when i bought it a few months ago.
I cleaned the remains of the fuel filter out of the fuel line. It was completely degraded.
Whatever fuel was left in it was pretty volatile still. Tank was still very clean.
I took the fuel line off the carb, blew it out, and installed a new filter.
Saw still had spark, so i put some fuel in and it fired and ran after a couple of primes with mix down the carb.
Just have the hardenned crank seals to deal with, and it should be good to go. Ive already had it in wood.0211241326c.jpg

Are you thinking about the 440vc? I have the very hard to find early mac 440 cart saw. The thing is 90cc and is 23lb so should not have any problem running a 40 inch bar. I'll try to get some pics when I dig the thing out to have the chains made.
