Receive the NOS homelite 750 carb today, thanks @edju1958

The homelite wb9 is much larger than the sdc20

Sorry to all of the homelite purists out there, almost all the mods are done to fit in the McCulloch just need to fab a new rod for the choke and clock the impulse barb. It looks like the homelite carb uses the same body as the WB3 , it has a 25.5 mm bore with approximately 20 1/2 mm Venturi, the WB3 is around 23 mm.

I think it's probably time to get out of the game.I was going through my saws in the garage today & noticed there were some missing:SP125,Montgomery Wards 3.7,Pioneer Farmsaw,Homelites XL-923,XL-902AM,XL-800,XL-700,XL-500,& 450.I've been missing saws over the past few yrs.,but this is just too much.I keep my garage & house locked up when I'm not home,so I'd like to know how the hell they're getting in & helping themselves with no signs of forced entry.

For those who haven't heard the news, Bob Johnson passed away this week.

Bob and Joan stopped to see me on one of their cross country tours a few years back. Bob brought me the two 660 gear drives saws on the floor.

A few years later I was able to stop and see Bob at his place in Maryland, NY.

He was a tremendous source of information, knowledge, and some parts as well.

Bob's passing is a big loss to the McCulloch community - he was one of the all-time greats..

IMG_0448.jpegIMG_0449.jpegThe choke rod fab went well, took a few try’s but works like it was almost ment to be! lol
Got an early sp125 short block together, going to test a few things with this, going to start out with an imported short block, this block has super low, exhaust timing, I’m not planning on touching that in the future either! LolIMG_0450.jpeg

Good evening, hopping for some satisfaction. Spent the day getting gap right and have put rings on piston . Went well and don’t know why I had such a fret about it. Problem is not understanding how piston is placed in cylinder. Longer than I would like trying to understand. Old ring gap.0093. New .0046sh. Filed to .0062 to allow for pin and clearance. Could really use some guidance in the process IMG_1330.jpeg

I have read Jacob.J explain work the mess in and Brian Grey say and show the same. Greys video seems to slip in easily appearing to surprise him. I took rings off once again and filed to .0066. Looking at windows going in straighter but still hitting a wall and gain is lost. Pins still appear tight . If I file .0068,.check 0070,.check0072 etc will this give me solution. I broke one of the original rings but still have one, sits at .0093 . Tempted to put the one ring on and try.

We are having some hot weather here so spending time in basement working on 797. When it gets a little cooler running to the lake with my pretty. Wife going to fish while I run a tank through it and really work her. Not so fast but she pulls and doesn’t stop. I have seen some folks offering re-pop decals but no European models, I have to look into it.
running 40-1 and the compression is incredibly now from when I first started it, I can hold by cord and stays with no slipping. Not impressed with original bar seems to clogg in oil channels. Starts four pulls cold ,straight of hot . Surged but took apart put new intake and exhaust gaskets and blue loctight on everything and hasn’t rattled apart in a week.
