On a previous post some conversation of sleeving a Mac 125 cylinder came up .Having done that myself it's not difficult just time consuming .I used grade 50 soft grey cast iron but I suppose you could use nodular iron or 4140 steel .The later is used for aircraft engine cylinders .

Chris - $600 for a 7-55 that was complete and in good, clean, running condition would be fair. If the tanks and carburetor are clean, the muffler is intact, and the hoses are not ready to break off $600 is tops unless you are desperate for one.

I drained out the last of the old fuel, replaced the fuel line with a grommet and bulk hose, took a link off an extra 32" chain, and we were in business! The saw fired in 10 pulls and the tune was spot-on! I had a brief scare when the throttle lock didn't pop out and I thought the saw had an air leak, but the sticky throttle lock and a non-functional kill switch are the only hiccups I have to fix.

Regarding a 10-10S I think I have one of the last ever made .It had sat in a basement for years and had the original Mac branded chisel chain. I don't think ever had a file on it .Because it was bought by a tree trimmer in those days the first thing they did was remove the brake .At the same time I was also gifted a 700 that was needled .That one I used the good parts from two saws and made one .As is typical although those two saws ran fine they are seldom used .

The 57 cc McCulloch saws (PM55, 555, 570, 10-10S) are very nice. Definitely a big step up from the 54 cc models.

PM55, 7-10 and SP125 are a great trio.

Mark
So I was wondering if the PM55 was 54 or 57 cc.
I just tore one down yesterday.
Initially it looks pretty bad. Siezed, and lots of white oxidation in the tanks and inside the cylinder/stuffer area.
After a little compressed air, not too bad. Maybe I can save it, but it will take a lot of work. I have a good 1010S cylinder if port timing etc is the same.
Got the cylinder soaking to see if it lets go without taking the plating(I'm assuming its a chrome bore) with it.

As I understand it, the 10-10 and it's longtime rival Homie Super XL were both catalogued until 1998 or so. I doubt they were actually in production all the way to the end though. The saws still available had likely been warehoused for a few years or assembled ad hoc from remaining parts stock. By that time, both marques had decayed to the point where they couldn't hardly keep the porch light on much less actually have an assembly line for old tech saws that few people wanted and even fewer were willing to pay new retail for.

Homelite's counterpart to the Mac 10-10 was not the SXL,it was the XL-12.The SXL was 58cc
