They used McCulloch engines about like Briggs engines on a number of things .Like a post hole auger using basically a 250 engine .The navy had a bomb hoist used on carriers that I think was a 700 engine .Any place a light weight power source was needed they got used by some .

I posted this in the saw video thread, but I will put here as well. This is a pretty clean Pro 10-10A that I got from @timg last year. I'm not sure on the timeline yet, but I am hoping to tear it down to do machine work & port work and see if I can make it stronger. I also have a PM 55 that I would like to massage as well.

Looks good in hardwood Greg!! If thar 55 is a Super. I believe it's a little larger engine at 57cc instead of 54cc. Maybe Mark will verify.

That chain is pretty aggressive and it handled it pretty well. The PM 55 is definitely 57cc...better piston & transfer design too.

I don't have any Mac parts so I modified a 288 husqvarna carb diaphragm and used a stihl 290 fuel line just to see if it would runView attachment 391090
It fired right up but I'll wait for my parts to come in to cut with it
and I need an oring for the fuel cap.
Feels heavier than a 266 I'll have to weigh it.
My parts came in I got a Oregon fuel line and a china carb kit and put a oring under the fuel cap
Started first pullIMG_20231006_171943.jpgIMG_20231006_172745.jpg

I have 20" bar and several new Oregon 70dl 20" chains to run on it.

Did the Oregon fuel line seal up ok? The Chinese molded lines I’ve used always need a couple wraps of Teflon tape
It snapped into place as I pulled it through the fuel tank to the carb.
6 year's ago I put one in a 266 I just checked it and it's still completely fine.

Question for people more knowledgeable than me:

In true late era Mcculloch fashion, I have a PM 8200 with chipped cylinder chrome (pic below). Am I completely SOL? The piston is in great condition, I could just barely feel where the piston has touched the chipped areas. I cleaned those spots up with lapping paper.

If there's someone out there who'd bore it and make an iron sleeve, I'd do it. Looks like U.S Chrome (my first choice) isn't doing blind bores right now and I would need to find a dealer to go through. I have two places I'm going to call on Monday, I don't expect either to pan out. If anybody has any ideas, I'm happy to hear them.

Cheers!
