I think I recognize that background....

Fortunately mine has the clamp parts, but the wee little tube that goes in the wrap is mia. I know I had two when I gave one back to the owner, but since then it and the points box clamp have vanished. The saw doesn't have points so those don't matter, but I'mma have to custom fab up a new tube. Just another wee hiccup. Another problem I found is the CP crank had RH threads on the clutch side but the nut I saved off the parts SP had LH threads. 2 minutes of searching provided me with a nut, but it's little stuff like that that'll make a project drag on.

That one is going to be a dandy when you're done with it.

A good point .Often times incidental things become almost impossible to find so it takes some ingenuity to just make the part .Just think it through, nothing to it .Besides that very few would be able to tell if it were OEM or roll your own .Of all the saws I've restored the only one I can actually say that has 100 percent OEM parts is a McCulloch Titan 70 .For reasons unknown I felt compelled to do it that way

69524 - Bushing, frame (Spacer .215 I.D. x 5/16" O.D. x .870 long)

McMaster Carr 92415A668 if you can't find the original or something that will work.

A piece of brake line could possibly be made to work.

After some rooting in my "oddball spares" bin I learned an a/v bushing tube off an 075 is the right o.d., you'll need to trim it to the right length but you may be able to get two pins out of one of the tubes.

Thank you again. I got a question on the compression release.Do you have to hold it down while you try to start it or is there a catch on the release button that holds it open?

Push it down and slide it forward. It will stay in place as well as hold the throttle on fast idle. Once it starts just flip it backwards and it will release the dsp valve and return to normal idle.

Actually if it does not work it's only 70 cc's .Might be a tad stiff to roll over but not that bad even considering it's a right hand start< why they ever did that I'll never know

Id be more worried about it sticking open , good way to smoke your piston.
@Al Smith I know plenty of lefties who would buy a right handed start saw.

A left hander might like them .I've got two, a 6-10 and a super 44A .The 44A is a hold down choke .Who ever thought of that was an idiot unless they had three hands .

I'm a lefty, and I would buy a right hand start saw, but just because its a Mac.
Still cant get the hang of it, but I grew up on left hand start saws.:D

I might make a note of my 6-10 .That thing became an obsession .I mean I really made love to it and I know for a fact if I used it as a work saw it would never hold up .Over the blocks it will will outgun an 850 Mac and run heads up with a stock 272 Husqvarna believe it or not .It was just something I did to prove to myself it could be done .It's more or less a big kids toy .One of those things if you never try you will never know .

I once used a fixed jet 125 carb on a 7-10 .My 6-10 is a hybrid made from two with a much larger choke portion than the throttle section .In effect it kind of acts like ram tube .

I've been MIA for about a week due to the blizzard that hit our area last week during Christmas.Over 30 deaths attributed to the storm & the toll is climbing.I lost the internet on Fri.around noon & just got it back today around 4:00 p.m.Thank goodness I didn't lose electric like so many others did.We stayed warm & had plenty to eat.

I did manage to snag a couple of Macs on feebay today. The 1st saw was a PM 5700 that has 180 psi.It runs, but the seller said it might need carb work. The 2nd saw I bought was a PM 555 that has 122 psi, obviously it'll need new rings.I'm wondering if the rings from a PM55 will fit?Funny story about the 555 - last week the same saw sold for $158.Apparently the buyer didn't pay for it,so it went back up for auction again.I had a bid war with another person & I bowed out at $76,till just before the end with 15 seconds left I bid $130.50 & won.I was searching for a 555 for well over a yr.& every time I found one it went for big bucks.I'll be posting pics when I get them & keep you updated of any work that needs to be done.

So what do some of you do for air filters that are no longer available. I have an old 250 I'm working on and would like to replace the filter but I haven't found any that seem to be in any better shape than the one I have. I thought about some foam filter material and cutting it to fit but am a bit hesitant about that.
