Ed - I was working on some 300 Series saws getting them cleaned up for the display. My notes saw the oil line between the tank and the oil pump should be 3-1/8" in order to properly fit in the space on the saw. This one seems to be a bit longer but it was rigid enough to fold in there without a kink.

I found these on eBay a few weeks back, I'd never heard of the PM410 before and I did not have a PM375 with the longer rear handle in the display. I do have a 365 which is the same "The Professional" edition with the top handle only.

I don't know if the PM410's were offered with both handle options or if someone made a change along the way, but the Model numbers on the saws are different making me think these are original.

(Don't worry, I wiped up the oil after I took the photo...)

In answer to that keep in mind a lot of companies made bars for Macs .
I thought I made it fairly clear when I mentioned the word "oregon" twice in my post as to what type of bar I had.The only companies that made bars for Mac that I'm aware of were Oregon & Windsor, maybe there were more?

Mark,I had no idea that Mac made a PM375 or PM410.

As for the oil line in the 300 series, the original E.B.2.1 had a line that must've been 6--8 in.long.I shortened it,but I believe it needs that spring in it.The newest E.B.2.1 that I bought recently is baffling me as to why the manual oiler won't work.I'm going to pull the pump off again to see if it has the O-ring at the base.As you may or may not recall, the piston was broken & I had one on hand from the old E.B.that I put in the pump.I'm also going to check the hose that goes to the bar pad to make sure it's clear.

Those boots if they are just torn you can use Loctite #401 which is buna-n o-ring glue ,the same stuff a boot is made from .If Scott at Chainsaw R doesn't have one perhaps "The Duke " has a reproduction of one .He has a lot of reproduction parts for many brands .

Thanks guys. I ordered a couple. A great price but the shipping is crazy. I hope they show up by horse drawn carriage drawn by two white horses with a guy to install them.

With Scott if he still owns ChainsawR you about have to call him because what he has in stock can change almost daily .Again unless things have changed if you put a request in as soon as he finds one he will be in touch with you .

Now a story .I was looking for what McCulloch called a boot actually a rubber gizmo the fit over the adjustment screws for either an 805 or some other 82 cc McCulloch .Scott sent me an intake boot .I didn't whine and cry just got him on the phone and when he got one I sent a check and paid for it . It wasn't like I was going to stop doing this stuff any time soon ,now I have a boot if I need one which sooner or later I will --if I can find it .

Tim,I guess I'm too late at the party.I bought a boot for my PM850 last summer from Mark H.If you bought from chainsawr, yes the shipping is crazy. When I inquired as to why the shipping is so high,I was told "I have to physically take the item off the shelf & put it in a shipping box".Like the rest of us who deal in parts have a levitation device that does it for us.

Shipping to Canada has become pretty bad. It seems that the postal services are in lock step with the courier services.

I likely should have gone with Mark but I pulled the trigger on Chainsawr.

I bought 2 to cover off any forthcoming issues. My PM850 has an air leak somewhere so I figured I might as well have the boot on hand. Seals are new. When I get a chance. I'll start spraying brake cleaner to see if I can locate the issue.

Love that 850.

Check the impulse line also. It could be a source of a leak. The oil pump gasket is also a possible leak source. Ive had a leak found at the carb gasket once. It was missing. When i assemble a mac 82cc i always put a sealer on the top of the boot where it attaches to the bottom of the fuel tank. Not much but enough. Ive had them leak due to corrosion. Not much else to check.

Yeah, Mark has a lot of stuff but he's not very good about letting people know at this point...

BTW, there were at least 4 different versions of those boots with 7 different part numbers and all are completely interchangeable even though they do not all look alike. I do have a good supply of NOS parts on hand.

Mark

P.S. I'm not getting notices about replies to this thread any longer so somedays I forget to have a look and get caught up.

P.P.S. I'm still trying to come up with better ways to ship at reasonable prices but for 90% of what I do, the USPS small and medium flat rate boxes while expensive, are the best option for domestic customers with fast delivery, tracking, and $100 insurance included. First Class packages for export, even to Canada are about 1/2 the price or less but can take up to weeks to reach the final destination.

Some of you may already know this, but I'm passing it along to those who don't know - Bob Johnson's shop is officially shut down.He disconnected his shop phone last week. It's a sad day to have to pass this along.Bob is a piece of Americana.According to his lady-friend,he's having issues with memory loss (a damn shame).Bob will be 83 in Feb.I will continue to pass along further developements as they happen (I keep in touch via emails with Joan).
