Did all Mac 10-10 come with the plate that goes on either side of the chain bar at the oiler? I got a older model 10-10 that has none.
"Critical thinking" is being lost completely! Fewer and fewer people are able to think for them selves or even think through simple issues.Thats a good "hack" Al.
Not thought of much these days.
Folks go to Google now quicker than the "scrap pile".
Lot left unsaid about what people did and thought of thats lost now.
Thanks for sharing.
Most of it is just common sense which generally speaking is not so common any more .Those who perhaps know just a little bit about for example chainsaws might think they need original OEM parts which many do not to work well .Older models such as McCulloch you won't find most modern shops to even work on them but they'd gladly sell you a new machine .So if you have one you're out of options ,you have to do it or park it on a shelf to sit forever .BTW I get a lot of freebies because of that ."Critical thinking" is being lost completely! I haven't run any kerosene through it yet,but the 1st shot of oil that came out at the bar pad was pure black, which tells me the cheapos were running used motor oil in it.This could very well be the issue. The oil pick up line is clear as far as I know.If you tried the kerosene/diesel treatment, you may have washed the lubrication from the pump and getting more oil through there might help. Worst case scenario, something has caused the o-ring to swell or it's broken and sticking in the pump body.
If the pickup line is blocked, it would explain the plunger not returning after it's been pressed.

You're just in denial, don't sweat it the yellow fever is in remission.I have a confession to make. I sent my last two Mac saws and remaining paraphernalia down the road last night. Just got tired of them sitting on the shelf unused. They went to a great home and will be loved for years to come. We have all but quit using firewood on the farm and haven't cut firewood on any scale for 3 years now. Even sold a few of my late model work saws too.
Don't worry, I still have all my knowledge from collecting the last 15 years and love hanging around you guys too!

Dont rule out a mechanical bind.I haven't run any kerosene through it yet,but the 1st shot of oil that came out at the bar pad was pure black, which tells me the cheapos were running used motor oil in it.This could very well be the issue. The oil pick up line is clear as far as I know.
Ive got an idea.I'm sure I am. I actually don't know what to do with the extra shelf space!!!!
Ive got an idea.
Why dont you use that space for temporary storage of the yellow goodness that you dont need, so as you aquire them, you can send them to me? Then you can have a constant state of satisfaction from filling, emptying, and refilling those otherwise barren shelves.
Not to me.Sounds expensive!
