If I ever get in the mood to convert the bones of a Super 44 Dan Henry sent me into a vintage hottie it will have a left hand start .I detest those righties .Almost as much as I dislike a hold down choke .What in the world were they thinking ? Simple--they weren't .

They aren’t bad when staring over a log. Hold in left hand, push choke with left thumb, and pull with right arm. Air starts suck! I just use a prime bottle to start the Big Macs! Live is good! Lol even the kart Mac loves the prime bottle

So, I ran into something interesting today. I was looking at a pro mac 10-10 IPL and it lists the same piston and rings as a pro mac 55 and 555. That would mean it is 57cc. I always thought the pro mac 10-10 was 54cc and the 10-10s was 57. Acresinternet lists the pro mac 10-10 as 54cc...

Anyone have a pro mac 10-10 apart?

Jeff

Yes, if it's chrome bore it's 57cc. Iron bore is 54cc

Probably lots of us to one extent or another! LOL

Good catch in that IPL (which I believe will be the last PM10-10 IPL printed in '83), but generally a Pro Mac 10-10 is 54cc with a 69212 piston. You'll notice a dash '-' in front of the part numbers associated with the changes in that IPL which indicate they're different numbers from the preceding IPL..., which will more than likely list the 54cc part numbers.

Can't comment on the chrome vs. iron bore aspect, nor do I have the previous 93374 IPL for reference/confirmation. Would be interested in obtaining one. Not exactly a good day in the Mac publishing office, though.

Very Interesting...So I dug further and found the following:

According to the publication guide there is only one model number for the Pro Mac 10-10. It is 600014. Serial prefixes 11 and 12. IPL number is 93711, owners manual 93372, shop manual 63084.

Every IPL that I have seen for the Pro Mac 10-10 is the 93711-R6. This covers prefixes 11 (A,B,C,E,K,U) and 12 (A,B,C,E,F,G,K,U).

I wonder what is in the 93374 ? I also don't see any "-" in front of any part numbers in the 93711-R6.

Nope. Most all the mac's I have ever had where basket cases and by the time they left here serial prefixes did not apply! :D
Ive got one 1010A that was owned by a local county facilities department.
Its iron bore/chrome rings.
Also found a 1010A parts saw thats the same.
Not sure about Pro Mac 1010 saws. Maybe they were a transitional between the 1010A and 1010S?
No knowledge there, just speculating.

It's also interesting that the chrome bore cylinders weren't even introduced to the PM555 or 10-10S until 1983 according to a Service Bulletin I just found. I'd say a chrome bore 57cc PM10-10 would be a fairly rare find.

The 10 series service manual mentions making sure the chrome ring is at the top of piston....however, all the macs I have pulled apart, the rings look exactly the same.

Interesting. None of my IPLs have those dashes in them...

I don't understand why every pro mac 10-10 IPL has the 1.81 piston listed..

If you're getting them from K&T Parts House, that's why.
