So can anyone help me determine what right hand start models have interchangeable parts with a 1-10?
Gonna start looking soon.
I need everything. Clutch, washers, drum, bearing, recoil, etc.
Mine is missing.

I recently acquired a pro mac 55. I've never had one of these models and the Walbro carburetor isn't anything like the 10-10 carbs I'm used to. The high and low openings are plugged with brass inserts and there's one screw above it. Other screw is idle adjustment. Is this an original carburetor for this model?

Yes. That is a fixed high speed jet. Only two screws. Idle speed and low speed mix. They are angled upward for access with the high sides of the flat type filter box.

You can change the carb if you can find one to a fully adjustable model . Fact I had one with a fixed jet on my 105 Mac that didn't run worth a hoot .Got a carb from from a 125 via Rich Dougan AKA "saw king " .That woke it up .I think the idea with fixed jet was to prevent lean run condition and thus warranty problems .

Yeah I was wondering about that. I was thinking about putting a pro mac 10-10 carburetor on it so I would have both jets

Keep in mind that there are larger and smaller bore SDC carburetors, and a variety of adjusters in terms of location, angle, idle speed adjust, etc.. Generally speaking, the lower numbers (SDC 16 and smaller) are the smaller .750" throttle bore, SDC18 and up are the larger .812" bore. I have the fixed jet SDC carburetors on my PM55, SP80, and two SP125's and find they all work very well. You have to lean on the 125's a bit to get them to clean up in the cut but that is what they were intended to do.

I did something with that fixed jet from the 105 .I might have put it on a MAC 7-10 I rebuilt for my deceased wife's nephew .I've done so many "Rube Goldbergs "that have worked . I can't remember which from what any more .If it wasn't that saw the saw I did use it on ran fine but it was a smaller unit than a 105 regarding displacement. The 105 came from a saw shop in either Wisconsin or Illinois where it had sat for decades with a broken recoil .I would have thought in either location the elevation would be about like Ohio so the jet size should be the same .Which is not saying they used the correct jet because things do happen .I know I have the Tillotson carb book but I don't think I have a Walbro book .They would list the jet sizes .

McCulloch quite frequently put the smaller carburetors on the bigger saws, and bigger carburetors on the smaller saws. The 2-10's and the CP70's were frequently fit with the bigger SDC carburetors, and bigger saws including the SP125 had the smaller ones, often with the fixed jet to prevent the operator from running the saw excessively lean.

You do not get the satisfying high revving scream with the fixed jet carburetor, but the saws will work just fine under load.
