JJ - The tanks do not come apart.

Here is are a couple of photos of the fuel line/nipple coming out of the fuel tank.





And this is the mating fuel inlet on the MDC carburetor used on the PM6.

In Ohio you can find a zillion old 10-10's lurking in garages and barns .They were a very popular saw back in their day .I think what happened as time marched on they just got shelved when they would not start any more . The owners just trotted off to Sears and bought Craftsmen or TSC and whatever they sold .The poor old Macs just sat on the side lines needing a carb rebuild .I've lost track of how many I've resurrected for others because the so called saw shops would not touch them .Echoes are the same way ,lost in the corn belt .

You are definitely right about that! My wife and I were driving not too far from home and a guy had a pile of old power equipment on a trailer for sale. I picked up two complete 10-10's for $20. Both full of water LOL!! They restored nicely.

Unless you blow the needles it's pretty tough to kill a 10 series short of straight gas .One of my 700's was stuck tighter than a bull's butt in fly time . I shot some Kroil down it and after about three days I could rock it about a quarter inch, next day maybe 3/4 " .After about a 4-5 days rolled 360 .I never tore it down just gassed it and it runs like a top .It was a dumpster find ,no recoil .

Harder to find them down here. I left my number with the guy that runs the scrap yard here, but no news from him. Work keeps me too busy to go shopping. Havent seen any large frames around here. Mostly 10 series and Mini Macs.

More times than not in farm country you really will not find large displacement saws of any brand .Those things have never been inexpensive and far too much money for the average farmer to justify buying .
In Ohio about only two areas one might find an abundance of larger saws .In the Holmes and Wayne county area of Ohio is the heart of the white oak lumber industry .It's also a center of Amish style furniture made from the oak . Another might be the 9 southern counties near the West Virginia border which is the pulp wood industry .The ground is so steep about the only thing you can do is farm the top and the bottom and grow pulp on the slopes .What cattle being raised have short legs on one side so they don't roll off the hill .

I think my small engine shop buddy has a 10-10 just setting on the floor. Want me to enquire about it?

Domed filter. Mine is shot.

Look into Uni-Filter foam as an option with the domed frame. Cut it to fit and screw it down. Poor man's MaxFlow.

Finding the original filters is getting harder and harder and can be pretty pricey when you find em.

The original frocking was almost nonexistent so I scrubbed the rest off and sewed uni filter on with fishing line to the screen. It works very well for coarse filter material. The coarse filter requires that you keep your chain sharp so you make chips not dust.
