To further elaborate on what I previously said . I had some pictures of things like a pheonix bird I wanted to use for a personal logo like Randy does with his monkey down loaded on a file on the computer harddrive my painter bud used on that printer .The plan was to down load several but he became in bad health and I retired before it was completed .The source of the picture to copy doesn't make any difference where it comes from as long as it's clear .Other than that I'm not exactly what has to be done further .
This stuff has been around a long while .A fellow from Indiana, Jack Maple sold decals for antique tractors at least 25 years ago made of heavy self stick mylar .Old water transfer decals don't work so well on chainsaws .

An 850 is no light weight but try a 125 some time,it will seem a feather after using that thing .
Try an 090g with 96" bar and a 125 with 50" bar will feel and handle like a 200t by comparison. It's all relative, there are far worse saws than that 090g with said bar.

I'm not sure why so many folks get their panties in knot over working on these. They are a bit tricky but not bad. Trying to put a choke linkage on a Homelite 150 while the carb is in place is far more challenging from my experience. I did have the luxury of watching a video from Leon's chainsaw parts and repair on a similar but newer mini mac. That said, anyone else can do the same. Maybe it's my background as a Journeyman Machine Repairman that just makes it seem easy? Could be. All I'm saying is, if any of you fellas like these saws but stay away from them based on the over blown proclamation they are impossible to work on, remember this....If I can so can you. I left it apart for a month on my bench with no pictures and put it together without much issue.

You are right! I never understood the disgust for them either. I find them simple to work on.

Finally got to the early model Mini Mac 6 with the 1/4 pitch sprocket set up. Life kicked our family in the danglers for the last month, so I've been MIA on everything. Anyway, eventually there will be a "full" resto. I'll most likely chronicle that here if there is any interest. Thank you again to Mark for the complete NOS muffler / spark arrestor and Oregon bar / chain combo.

That is a good looking mini! Glad you and your family is doing better. :)

Thanks Steve. We are all healing in our own ways.
This mini is stout! It pulls over hard with a nice pop! Ill get it to some wood before she gets the body shop treatment. ;)

I have a mini that i put a new piston and rings in. Replaced all the rubber bits too. It runs real strong!

I dont mind working on the mini macs either. Not as bad as some think. I had a 110 years ago and sold it and kinda missed that little fella so i picked up another. Ther is acually a lot popping up for sale but they are way over priced. I wont pay 150 for a non runner lol.
I picked mine up for 20 which is enough

Often times there's very little return for the effort when trying to get a Mini-Mac running right..., especially by someone who is pre-disposed to their reputation (deserved, or not) and whose never worked on one before. They're also prone to vapor lock( even when running correctly) which can drive the most die-hard Mini-Mac fans nuts if they don't know what's happening and how to recover.

Rich Dougan (ChainsawGuy) did a good video on tearing down the Mini-Mac some time ago. It's worth watching and pretty much shows you the only coupla tricks you need to know to get in and out of one quickly. I've always thought that's why most folks don't like working on them. They start in the wrong place and never do really figure out how one comes apart or goes back together so it ends up in a box in the corner or a landfill (or my house).

And copy on that Homelite 150. LOL I actually had three of those come through in about the span of a month last year. Definitely learned all I know there the hard way! Now I can tear one down and have it back together in about 20 minutes.

It's always easier when ya know how.

Ordered a loop of woodland pro for this 24inch bar, got Carlton in the box. Not sure how I feel about that, my only other experience with Carlton was with their semichisel and it is terrible IMO. Anyway, the bar was a good fit on my 1-52.
I also unwrapped this "parts" saw from @Steve and I feel bad pirating it lol. It is pretty clean and feels like it has decent compression. I am told it is 2-10DSP. I am currently resisting the urge to start collecting parts to make it a runner instead of a parts saw lol.

I don't have much experience with the more modern Carlton chain, but the stuff from 7-10 years ago has been a favorite for a long time. I especially like how it work with the File-O-Plate.

I did get a new McCulloch saw today along with a few other donations.

I have one of those roper built craftsman saws. Seems to have decent power. Mine has a Nikki carb in it that I found is a copy of a Tillotson HS. I was able to get an HS kit to work in it.

I stripped the "parts saw" down to the short block tonight (pretty much) I dont think I can resist the urge to try to make a runner out of this. The P&C are in great shape and the compression feels solid. The worst part is the tank. I will media blast it tomorrow and see. I have a spare tank that will accept an SDC but then I would need an SDC and all the bits that go with it (spacers etc) I have a mind to try the bullfrog carb but that is dependent on the tank cleaning up.
At any rate, at the minimum I will need a fuel cap, recoil assembly, and air filter cover.

Id blast that tank and JB any thin spots or pits.
Rest of whats there looks pretty good. Ive got a 1-10 I'm wanting to find some parts for one day.
There was someone on evil bay selling a ton of used Mac parts. Looks like they own a shop, and are parting out the "dead" saw pile.

This talk about the Mini you have to remember the time frame .These were not the only inexpensive difficult to work on chainsaws made during the period .Homelite and others followed the design somewhat .Even Stihl had the 020 av top handle version which was no sweet heart to work on .Stihl was never on the lower end of the price range ever .Myself I have to get my mind right before I even delve into a Mini because I know fore hand it's going to be a test of patience and sometimes I just have to walk away .I fight off the urge to go to the shed and drag out that 8 pound sledge and end it all with one swing or throw it under my bulldozer .

I like the bulldozer idea.
I used my compact track loader and a 4 in 1 grab bucket on a washing machine I finally had enough of.
Very satisfying. No regrets. Had already bought a new one.
