I've been cleaning up some saws and such preparing to move them over to the museum.

33 - I have a nice 12" original bar I'll put on this one.

Heck, for a $20 bill and change, id buy two. That way, you have one in case the next project needs one... Its always the little things that add up. Thats how I wound up with $75 + in a mag cased Homie xl2/super2 "hybrid" that I'll never sell cause I'll never get my money back.:BangHead::BangHead:
Its ok though. I like that one a lot, even though its on the wrong thread.:)

12" bar Mark? Youre gonna give it a complex. I mean, I could probably relate, but....

35 Spur Gear Reduction Drill A.K.A. the Dynamite Drill I put a lot of extra time and effort into this one to make sure that everything worked exactly as it should. That "button" on top of the gearbox is a lock that facilitates unscrewing the auger bit.

Any updates on the museum Mark?

I have been busy cleaning saws and carrying them over but have not done a lot more in the way of arrangement lately. I also started moving some of the literature and documentation over, Chain Saw Age and Chain Saw Industry magazines, etc. over. I have about 150 saws over there now.

Geez, I was talking about a McBrick earlier. This is like two guys with "vettes" trying to pick up the same girl. I'm in a Chevette. Mark has a Corvette.:(
I can only imagine the time, effort, and money that you put into that Mark. So glad that you have the ability and the desire to share it with the world. Ive said it before, but thats amazing! Hope to get to walk through and touch(drool on) everything one day.

Well actually for a puddle jumper the Chevette wasn't all that bad .It wasn't as fast as a Corvette but it got 40 miles on a gallon of gas .GM sold millions of them until they dropped the model and had a brain storm to sell a GMC model made in Korea and they couldn't give them away .

I usually just seal tanks up with Motoseal, but I'll probably pay for that later.
I heard someone made a rubber one as an alternative to the cork. Not sure which one would last longer.
If the cork dries out from sitting empty for awhile they will seep some, but can stop after fresh mix swells the cork back out.

Well since you put a different spin on it Al, maybe it would be easier to pick up girls in a Chevette. Those had a back seat that would hold more than a six pack.

Not to get on a tiny little Chevy kick but my ex wife put over 100,000 miles on one .Imagine this though going from an Olds Torando to the Chevette .I know I put at least three clutches in that damned thing which was a piece of cake .The tranny was so tiny I used it for a pilot shaft .Believe it or not that thing was good in the snow ,a lot better than a Corvette . It was a tad over 4 grand .I'd imagine by now all these and Ford Pintos are part of a Toyota or Honda .Steel never dies it's form just changes .Could be an I Beam next a roll of fence or 50 thousand 16 D nails .

I was thinking that @Steve was pretty satisfied with the rubber or neoprene gasket. I probably have that in one of my ten series as trade with Steve all the time. Also, I have just cut my own rubber/cork gaskets & used no sealer, used Dirko with no gasket, and used Red-Kote tank sealer after seeing Mark H utilize that. If not in a hurry that Red-Kote is maybe my favorite. Sealer such as Dirko or other with no gasket will work fine, but when put tank top back in place it sits a little lower and will put more pressure on your air filter when tighten down air cover. Just something to watch.

Ive seen someone JB weld the tank in my searches and use a cork gasket with seal all.

This thing is shot. Air box had a pretty good pool in it and when tipping the saw form it came from the front FW side conner and a good stream.

Dub, I like that seal all pretty well, but never used it on the tank seal on 10 series. You may just have to give up and trade me that thing for some red johnny reb saw...

This year planning to Red-Kote one of my j-reds. Used seal all several times on it and after about 3 or 4 th use it wants to pop or vibrate loose in different locations. Tried sanding and acetone before applying, but can't get it to stay long term. Had same issue on an 034 Stihl fuel tank with seal all that after a few times of use it would spring a leak. Darn good running saw, but finally let that fuel running all the place affect my thinking one day and let a guy talk me out of it.

The new rubber gaskets should be on ebay (at least they was on there...ain't looked lately though). Seemed like they was from Ashland, KY. These may have been the ones that Steve tried.
