--Then keep in mind in the "glory " days of two cycle karting there was an abundance of after market components .Names like Horstman ,GEM , Go Power ,Wiseco to name a few . The 101's are well documented but there were other kart engines worthy of mention like the MC-10's .Which I think still holds the record number of wins in the early days .The 101's were at about the end of the 2 cycle era .
I've seen vid clips where they brag up the 101's but quite frankly they didn't seem to me to be much more than a good running 125 .Then on the other hand I've seen some that would really carry the mail .
It would seem unlikely in my perspective that if a 101 were to be equipted with the small carb used on a 125 with a stock muffler etc and stock porting if there would be much difference in how it runs with regards to a 125 .

Thanks guys!
I came along a little late to get into the kart engine thing.
I just dont remember Mac being on the scene, but everyone around these boondocks was running 4 stroke Briggs 5 hp on a dirt track. Usually lightened up with 3 hp flywheel, ported, and custom grind cam.
Nothing that fast, but still fun to watch.

I stumbled over a pic of the 10-10 S first in line,805/850 in the rear .This is exactly the way I got it with a 20" Oregon bar and a Mac branded chisel chain that might have been filed once .A trimmer had it ,never used it and as usual removed the brake . Really it doesn't have any more grunt than a 54 cc model .Fact I've got a 54 that will out run it just doesn't look as snazzy .It had sat for years and I don't think I even rebuilt the carb

Working on bringing this 1-50 back to life, picked up for $5 at a swap meet. Had no spark but excellent compression, found dirty and stiff points, freed them up and cleaned them, got to pop on mix down the carb. Just got in a new stock of HL Tillotson carb kits and just got in the mail today 24" and 30" bars with chains, also found the missing air filter and cover on eBay. Should be up and running again next week. Here's a few pics and videos of it.

Guys, the "S" in Promac 1010S stands for super. There May have also been a special edition as well. Mark H would probably know for sure.

The 1010 in it's various models was in the line up for a long time .Mac sold a zillion of them and I think there were some take offs of the model design by others .For a fire wooder they could always hold their own of course better saws eventually came along .When Mac circled the drain the 1010 was still in the line up .I think that was 1998 or so .Gone, just a part of history .
