It most likely hung from sitting 25 years on a barn floor . There are a lot of methods to unstick it so it isn't really a door stop or a boat anchor .Damned hold down choke is a chore to get started unless you have three hands or a dexterous big toe .

Ya i noticed the hold down choke. Its kinda different but then again the whole saw is lol.
Think i will start by getting some penatrating oil and spray in plug hole and let sit a day or so. Maybe pull muffler too and have a look through ther.

Don't try to pry it over with a bar in the flywheel fins . Many have and many failed then they get to try and find another flywheel . Many times you can pop it loose just by turning the flywheel but it's not a race .If it moves at all in might take a week of more oil and soaking .
I've never had an engine I couldn't unstick which includes Caterpillar diesels but some times it's a chore without destroying something .

I see an RPM listed in this manual (2700 rpm) but not listed in the one containing a bit on the PM55.

I also have a MAC document that says the idle speed for a 10-10S is 3000 rpm.

No dont intend on prying the fins. Just gonna letmit soak a while then try ro turn flywheel by HAND lol. If that dont work statt tearing apart and go from ther.
Any other tips are welcome lol.

I have a cylinder with a piston in it that has so far refused to give to any methods tried. Whats your never fail solution? It is an open cylinder, you can see corrosion pits in the piston where the exhaust ports are. It's old and not much chance of finding new let alone used parts.

If it's stuck above the ports one method is to knock the center out of a spark plug and either use a threaded pipe nipple or just braze a grease zerk to it and use a grease gun to hydraulically move the piston .A normal grease gun can reach around 5,000 LBs per square inch pressure . It will either come or bleed .
I did this on a Partner p-100 ,stuck .I unbolted the cylinder rather than try to rotate the crankshaft because I didn't want to take a chance of breaking something if it were stuck some place else down in the crankcase .It lifted it right off and the cylinder was not damaged nor the piston .Fact considering everything they looked good .

Another method I've never tried but a buddy of mine did with an old old field pumping engine with about a 6" bore .They pulled the head and stuffed the cylinder full of charcoal and oil soaked rags and set it on fire .After it burned for several hours it had expanded the cylinder enough to roll it over .

One more .Take the whole thing and put it in an oven and run it up to about 400 degrees ,let it cool and roast it right up again, several times .The expansion and contraction might shake it loose, might not .

Does anyone have a pro 10-10 or just regular 10-10 they would want to part with? Fat chance i guess and with left side recoil. Would like to play with one and what kind of price do they demand in running condition with a good piston and jug please.

Ok, so I am trying to determine which model saw I have. I believe it to be a 797, but am asking so I can better find parts and information on it. Here are a couple pictures to aid in the search. All I can find are the block stampings, no luck finding id tag in airbox.20190228_190506.jpg 20190228_190503.jpg 20190228_190542.jpg 20190228_190552.jpg 20190228_190520.jpg

According to my notes, 66251 block stamping should be a non super 797.

Haha, that could be a good deal with everything you put into it. But not for me as of now. Now to get a few other projects off the bench so I can start troubleshooting. Including a mini mac that I need to finish fixing for my father. This saw is one of yhe reasons I don't have money to buy that 3-10e from you, plus truck repairs.

I have cash and a F450. I will bite if it comes up for sale.

It would be a nice companion to my 795L.
