Concretegrazer, I have the pressure set so the gauge is a ways from the red,the bales are set so they are about two inches short. I started doing that with my old Vermeer to save the bearings. The guys down here suggested blowing the baler out with a leaf blower, as far as washing it off just the end of season with a garden hose. Guys any helpful hints appreciated! This is my first Deere baler.
All I have is a little 5x4 New Idea baler. The bales ain't really heavy enough to ever wear out a bearing.
Just grass hay, and not much of that! Very dry here even the big ponds have at least ten feet off the top. Probably going to be a lot of cattle leaving this country before winter!
Is the center of that bearing hex like the shaft there concrete grazer. If so they usually slip right on off. I love the hex shafts
Did about 7 acres yesterday at another little farm, then parked the tractor and baler in the shade. ( Damn hot here! ) Only 8 more acres to go!!
It's been over 100 heat index for the last week. Today seemed extra hot!
Caught a small shower at home last night. Went to the land of Lincoln to get a rake today.

Do you like the rubber teeth or do you prefer the spring teeth? Our 256 has the spring teeth.
I like the spring teeth, seem to hold up better. Not sure about the other guys!!

Pulled the blades of my wife's brush hog this evening for an overdue sharpening. This is the first year for her to be maintaining the field behind our house. It all pasture grass and last time I had her rig out it wasn't cutting it too well. I know they arnt as bad as you all have seen but now with an edge back on the blades it almost cuts as clean as a finish mower!
