My first stihl was a 290 and thought it was awesome till the first time I buried the 20" in an about 30" Red Oak. That day I knew I wanted more saw.

Me too except I got a 55 and thought wow this 290 is heavy, I should search the web for a way to make it faster. Then I found ya'll

Well I ended up buying a 441 and was looking at big bores. Found AS and was told by everyone don't do a big bore their is a great builder in TN that can port it. The rest is history

I watched a dude cough up over 800 for one after a spare chain while I was standing in line a few weeks ago..that's absurd in my opinion.
I like a lot of stihls, really do. Just think they price themselves out of the market sometimes. Heck I can buy a 372 for 750$...

Consumers have and always will pay a premium for STIHL products.
Now.....I could see paying top dollar for a good product, as long as replacement/consumable parts were reasonable. That’s just not the case.

Bingo, I would add to this information and availability of said support products. It's like you joined a secret society and haven't been given the password to get through the door. Your dealer is God and if he's a dick, you're S O L.
