That,s what happens if you don't watch out when you park, the warm tires melt into the snow pack/ice and your sitting in a hole
Carry a container of dry concrete powder...
sprinkle it on the drive tires and on the ice and it sucks up all the moisture and you drive out of the holes
Best thing is stop wait a few minutes and back up a few feet.

For reasons unknown, they gave the job of a rear coil spring replacement to a couple of the lubies.
They tried to support the suspension by jacking up under the tire. Which can turn...

Did YOU hide the Duct tape 'n Balin' wire on 'em? Probably a good thing if you did.

there has been concstruction at one of our yards. its all torn up and the mud is two to three feet deep in some places. we have a chevy colorado to drive back and forth. common sense say drive around the mud pits. however we have so many new people most of which cant find their way out of a wet paper bag with a flash light and instructions. anyway one of them though hey this truck has 4wd and got it buried all the way to the frame it was deep enough that he couldnt open the door and had to climb out the window to get out then had to walk through that mud pit. he did it at the beginning of his shift and had to work the rest of the night soking wet and covered in mud.

I used to have a sack with gravel and a small shovel in the trunk of my RWD car, got me out of snow/ice holes and up driveways numerous times. Also, more weight in the trunk of a RWD helps.

Didn't have the need for any of that in my front wheel drive car, although this car is lighter and wears better winter tires - that helps a lot!

It is all about the tires. People that live where it snows a lot should have snow tires, which are free. So makes no sense not to have them.

What do you mean by free snow tires?
Ok, so not free as in beer, but if your regular tires need replacing every 5 years, it means in 10 years you will have purchased two sets of tires. If you buy snow tires, you use them half the time, so your tires last 10 years. So you end up buying the same amount of tires, so no change in cost. Plus, you have snow tires, which are awesome in the snow. I should sell snow tires for a living. Lol

Edit: As an added financial bonus, if you buy the tires now, in 5 years the price of tires will have gone up, so you beat inflation too.

That sounds good on paper, but around here, on my truck, the last 3 sets of tires only lasted 11-12 months. So I always just put new on in October.. Current set is going to make it 2 years, and were worth the extra price. There are very few people around here in rural MN that buy specific snow tires.

Unless you have driven with snow tires, you can't appreciate the amount of grip they afford. I dominated an Audi club winter driving event in a four cylinder 3 series bmw with snow tires. They truly make a difference. The policy still stands, your tires will still last twice as long if you use them half the time.

While I would agree that a 2 foot cheater bar is necessary on occasion, I would deem it unnecessary when you broke both the shaft and the gears for the head tilt mechanism in this mill a month ago. Between the cheater pipe, the junk all over his table, and the 3 20 minute breaks in 3 hours, I couldn't take it anymore.

I had to leave early. I can't stomach watching the equipment I use to earn my living get abused like this. It would be one thing if he were teachable, but I'm just grateful this one shows up wearing pants. I need to get some clarification from management as to what I am allowed to do as far as guidance or discipline.

I finally understand why every older toolmaker I've ever worked with was such a grouchy pucker.
