Sometimes I find it easier to use a gas collet and weld those from inside the port rather than cut the fins to access it from the outside.
I used a gas lens and considered that.

The angle of the dangle was wrong. The arc force woulda pushed heat towards the plating, which I didn't want.

Being so close to the plating, I didn't think that welding was going to be an option. I'm more than happy to have been wrong. Great work Al !!

That is the one place where a sign wave tig shines. Just ball up the tungsten and it will arc sideways no problem.

I use a gas lens for everything else but sometimes the collet is good for tight places or really long reach.

Great point. I got rid of most or my pure tungsten.

You just use the collet with no cup?
