I used a gas lens and considered that.Sometimes I find it easier to use a gas collet and weld those from inside the port rather than cut the fins to access it from the outside.
Being so close to the plating, I didn't think that welding was going to be an option. I'm more than happy to have been wrong. Great work Al !!.

The angle of the dangle was wrong. The arc force woulda pushed heat towards the plating, which I didn't want.

Great point. I got rid of most or my pure tungsten.That is the one place where a sign wave tig shines. Just ball up the tungsten and it will arc sideways no problem.
I use a gas lens for everything else but sometimes the collet is good for tight places or really long reach.
