Hi Bill. Hope all is well.
I've got those. Bought to attempt to weld a chamber. Never got to it.
I gave away all of my pure. And I don't have adjustable waveform-sold my dynasty for this machine. Coulda turned up my EP% and balled the Lanthanated.
The sideways weld is something I didn't think about. Great idea. I've seen guys bend tungsten tips to weld in a tight spot before.
This metal was tinfoil thin. Like in the .005 range at the edges of the weld plug you see, and .001 at the center. I was pretty much ascared I was gonna make his ruined jug unusable if the arc jumped forward at all. Just a second in the wrong place and the metal under the plating would warp or flake.
We contemplated asking/shipping to Shawn, but we agreed in the end to make the attempt and toss the jug if it failed.
I don't tig aluminum that often anymore. I practiced on some .010 roof flashing to get some of my mojo back.

Used 1/16 filler wire and around 60 amps on the pedal. 2% lanthanated 1/16 tungsten.
