True, I wonder what the thickness of the ones I have are. Nursing some tendonitis right now, so may have to wait a couple days to find out. Unless my wife can get my micrometer out of my tool box in the shed. I will get it and let you know. I am guessing .040-.060

I think the original is around 2mm....which is about .080

But would be nice to have some different options.

Look up some Peek plastic. We use at work for holographic embossing. We have steel rollers with a sleeve of Peek on it. Then hit it with 400 degrees of heat and 2000 psi. They hold up pretty well vs the other plastics we've tried through the years.

DISCLAIMER, I dont own or have run a 2094/95.
Is there room on the chassis of that saw to extend the spacer into the air stream of the flywheel fan?
Also drilling holes in the spacer to allow air to pass through it might be an option? Less contact between case and head, or long ways with a very thin bit.

Unless you are running a saw with the aluminum spacer for a living, I doubt it will be a problem. I am getting one, and will see how it works. It is an extra saw so will be a good platform to try it. I do some milling and firewood just for us. So it isn't going to be stressed. I doubt anyone is using a 2094/5 as a working saw.

I think an aluminum spacer will be fine. Years ago I rebuilt a 2094 for a local guy where I lived at the time and couldn't find a spare OEM plastic spacer, so I made one
out of some sheet aluminum stock I had. It turned out fine. I used stock paper gaskets on either side and a little Threebond between the layers. That guy has gotten a lot
of use out of that saw.

Randy was right when he posted that the spacer helps insulate the cylinder from heat, but the 2094/2095 is a sister saw to the 394/395 and neither of those use any
kind of spacer and they do just fine. The one difference though is that the deck on the 2094/2095 case is a little taller, meaning more of the stroke length is in the case,
so that may mean there's more heat soak in the case than in the cylinder on a hot day.

Another factor is, when the 2094/2095 came out, fuels and oils weren't as good as they are today. For the operator that buys good quality oil and fresh gas, they're
getting more protection.

So, i have an idea, if you guys think the aluminum will be ok for now, then I might get some other spacers made so folks can fiddle with squish a bit. I think it'd be relatively cheap to have a few made in 040 and 063 thickness.....

right now with the 080 spacer and a regular gasket (.020") my squish is at .043. this saw was intended to be stock, not modded.

however, one option is to make the spacer .063 which would tighten up squish a bit...and you'd still run a single .020 gasket with it .... theoretically that'd get you down to .026 squish more or less

YET ANOTHER idea is to run a .040" spacer, with a regular .020 gasket on either side of it ...similar to what jacob j did... and you'd be at around .023" squish

I dunno how much it would cost to run a small batch of those spacers, but it sure would be easier to do those ...and cheaper... than the phenolic or plastic of somekind I think.

Honestly, I would think the aluminum would be fine if you were keeping the gaskets and not milling on hot days.

Wish I could help with finding phenolic. We had it lying around the shop with no idea where we got it. Those spacers you made look great.

Might be a stupid question but is that plastic spacer not reusable?

Yup, as long as it doesn't break when you remove the jug lie mine did. Seems half of it wanted to stay on the jug, but the other half wanted to stay on the case. They both succeeded!

Not a stupid question. What part of RI?

Im in johnston. Im in the middle of a 2095 build right now. Was successful removing it in one piece. Never even thought it might not be reusable till i read this post. Now if i could just find an alternative to the tank expansion chamber id be in good shape. The one on tye saw was broken on the bottom and someone rtv it back on.

I know Johnston, you are talking about the black tower for the tank vent right? Pretty much unobtainium, you might be able to find one on here. There is a guy that has a bunch of jonsered parts. Look in the Jonsered thread near the end. He was on recently. I will tag him if I can remember who he is.

I didn't have one of those plastic tank expansion/vent pieces for a 2094 build one time, so I made a plug using a 16mm bolt and cut it down, and then I drilled a stepped hole in the middle and installed one of those small Husqvarna tank vent inserts. That worked well and the saw ran good.

See now this is exactly what i was thinking but with a rubber plug drill a hole and put a tank vent or even just run the line threw the plug and use the original vent end. Only thing is i was worried about rubber being broken down by the fuel. Bolt might be a better solution. Did you use orings in between it?
