No way! You work for Morgan? Awesome.

I just cut wood on a huge estate. Although, earlier, I was repairing a riding lawn mower...

Soon I'll be running a chainsaw bar on line site if things work out right.

I was making this thing smaller earlier today:

I think you'll be in need of a bigger axe my friend.....

Even slower going than you might think - loads of wire and nails in it from 200+ years of sitting on the edge of a pasture.
I was considering a 36 inch bar, tho.
Your 288 wasn't in doubt bro...
NZers have a bad habit of using trees as fence posts. I once hit some #8 wire about 18inches into a trunk cut. #8 is about 5mm thick....
92DL, meet file.....

It has its ups and downs. Mainly downs. I'd prefer to cut wood all day on an estate. Managed to secure 350 hectares or grazing land as of January on a place called Weston park. An old stately home. So my plans are slowly moving. Enjoy that twig. It looks a handful!!

Whatcha pumping?
Filter on the seal flush line has me curious...
That particular system was for the chiller, feeds 21 floors With perimeter vav units. The medium is just water thats been treated. the filter assembly is for added protection for the bearing of the pump, which the bearing is lubed by the water itself. It gets its flow from the high side of the pump and feeds back to the low.

Big pumps like that require tons of money in labor to service, im not an expert but a 200$ filter is probably a good idea for that bearing :)

we were working with a welder for weeks on that job.

I was going to say the same about your sweats … did lots of it when I built my house back in the mid 80s, been hearing that pecks had replaced all of the plumbing skills I learned!
Yes its much faster and cheaper than copper for a house. Better laminar flow as well.
Commercial settings still require copper for fire rating.
Did ya know that copper kills bacteria? Random fact

The filter protects the seal, not the bearings. That pump has no internal bearings, they’re housed in the motor.

Not trying to sound like a douche correcting you or anything.

Its cool work, very rewarding and can be real fun at times.

Are you union?
Contractor or facility maintenance/ engineer?
I’m a union Steamfitter.

Awesome, that's what my grandfather was. Rather amazed he made it to 67 considering he smoked like a chimney and worked with asbestos his whole career.
That’s when men really earned their money.

We’re spoiled today with OSHA, air quality monitors, hydraulics, battery tools and even corded tools that don’t try to kill you.

There’s some old buildings in Buffalo that amaze me. Some abandoned equipment, some still operational.
I have a pic somewhere of a steam header with 6 or 8 tees in a row, all 8” threaded.

No im glad you did!! I always thought it was the bearings.

someone once told me
“Practice does not make perfect, it makes permanent”
A good example of that is what i thought it did i suppose ;)

One thing i know very little about is steam, would be nice to work with you for the experience. I have been non union for my career, i have been with only two companies for 8 years.
We do contract work with this company, sadly i will not see big stuff anymore, but the pay is much better

Where do you live/ work?
I was non union early in my career.
Much better on this side as far as pay and benefits where I live.
See much bigger equipment as well, pretty much all commercial, heavy industrial.

I love this place, we are 50clicks from some of the most beautiful country on this continent, some of the best hunting and some real good people here.

I have to say that my dream plumbing gig would be either an A class gasfitter doing boiler service, or, building a nuclear power plant plumbing system.
I would love to see how the heat exchangers work from the reactor to the steam turbines, stuff like that brings a bog smile to my face.

steam like i mentioned i know very little about, we dont use it here like they do as much on the east coast. But working in new york under the streets, identifying proper isolation valves for buildings/systems and seeing how it all works would be amazing.
