I finally finished the project Husky 55 I bought from @brushwacker . It was a fun saw to work on!

Here is what it started out looking like (roasted piston from a bad rim sprocket):
Husky 55 Side.jpg
Scored Piston 55.jpg

I ended up installing a Hyway piston, new bearings, oil seals, carb kit, and fuel line. I happened to have a new 3/8 20" bar to go with it. With the choke on, the 5th pull it burped, took the choke off and two pulls and it was running. Only needed minor carb adjustments to get it where I wanted it! Still needs a new air filter...but I didn't want to wait to test it out!

Next up will be a Jonsered 670 that I am working on filling in mag rot with JB weld and will put it back together with a Husky 272 piston and cylinder. After that will be another 55 Husky I got from a neighbor that will get a 272 carb, Uni air filter, muffler mod and pop-up piston with maybe a gasket delete, will have to see what clearances I end up with between the top of the piston and the spark plug!

If that’s an issue, use a non-projected plug like a BM7A.
Cool, I also heard that cutting the electrode back for side spark can work in some instances. Will have to get a BM7A to have on hand anyway to mess with! Thanks for the tip!

That looks like corn residue you're discing there. Do you alternate beans and corn?
Yes sort of. I do 2yrs of corn, a year of oats and a year of beans. The farther you can get beans from beans the better and corn over 2yrs sees nasty bug pressure. We’ve been doing more cover crops lately as well. Here I’m working through some rye that was planted last fall when I spread bedpack by tossing 2bu of rye in each spreader of bed pack. I can’t believe how well this worked considering its “incorporation” method was a heavy tillage disk once the manure and rye were spread.

If you need a crank case, I have a 630 carcass I would sell. You’d just have to figure out the impulse line

Thanks for the offer, but I have a rough project 55, mostly complete part wise for rebuild and another 55 crank case with crankshaft I bought with the intent of building up, I have my hands full for the moment!

Between yesterday and today got the prototype wood shed done, took little dog with to talk a neighbor out of going in a septic tank without an h2s monitor, pulled a Ranger bed to get ready to sell, cleaned the yard up by throwing everything in a trailer and got to try out the new tow rig, got parts for my crv to fix the deer hit, fixed a pressure washer, fixed my 462, did a three hour road trip for saws, got breakfast to support the BB gun team, filled the shed halfway. It was finally a good productive weekend.IMG_7525.jpegIMG_7526.jpegIMG_7538.jpegIMG_7535.jpeg

sorry for the photo dump & long winded post...

Friday: I mowed my yard and started working on the 430. New suction hose, sight tube & filter on the transmission and refilled it.

Changed valve cover gasket, checked valve lash, fresh engine oil & filter, new fuel filter & return line between the injectors.

Saturday: I got the old fuel outta the tank, cleaned the pickup tube, replaced the inlet screen & O-ring, got all the new fuel feed line in and now (still) waiting on the return line to show up...

New tires got delivered so the 1984 code Goodyear's got torn off & replaced. Front tires were cake, the rears fought me so I had to get out the FU-9000 to seat the beads.

Today: I got a battery for the 430 and mowed at my parents. It was a nice day to be on the tractor & "relax" for a few hours...

My anxiety has been kicking my ass lately, I have a Dr's appt in the morning. I think I'm gonna get my testosterone checked since I do turn 40 this year...

What happened?

got (more) bloodwork done for iron, testosterone, vitamin b12, folic acid etc.

had bloodwork back in march & everything was flawless except very low vitamin D. the pharmacy never got the Rx. I have been struggling with zero energy/stamina even with simple tasks. then add bad anxiety attacks ontop of that.

so now I'm on a healthy Rx dose of Vit D once a week starting today. Rx of Zoloft for anxiety during the day & staying on Trazadone for anxiety/insomnia at night to help me sleep.

I thought I still had the touch but… I think I can move the latch down and pull some of the twist out of the hood. I need to get some new stuff before I try again.IMG_7548.jpegIMG_7552.png
