....Not Today but over the weekend I spent the big North-East snow storm at the hunting cabin where we got about 17-18". I built a drag plow out of 2x8 & 2x6 and hooked it to the Jeep Cherokee wood hauler. Plowed 4x over Sunday and once Monday morning. Needless to say it worked but needed mending numerous times and is now completely shot. The driveway is about 1/4mile and a slightly smoothed and gullied out fire trail that eventually leads to state game lands. The plow did well enough that Ill be welding up a steel version this summer. I didn't take many pics as I was pressed to work to have the ability to get out with the lowly 1-wheel drive Ford Focus. I did not think to take a pic of the plow but Im goin g back up in 2 weekends and ill take a shot of its destruction.

20260128_125040.jpgIm not a carpenter,, farmed this out to lock up. There is a 12x 8 room that was a deck and being opened up to the inside for a larger living room. I spent my day getting ready for the electrician,, then I can remove the inside wall and carry on. Been lucky,, no snow and not cold for getting the deck and roof on. You canonot slip a credit card in any of the beam joints,, these guy do/did phenomenal work.

Yesterday I started drinking not planning to go anywhere. Wife is mad we don’t have a snow shovel and I said I’m not going anywhere to get one. Yesterday afternoon the neighbor calls that she can’t get anybody to clear her driveway. We go up and the skid loader won’t move, the mini and tractor both have dead batteries. Go get a jump pack and get the tractor started. Drive the cabless tractor 3/4 of a mile to my house for fuel, almost roll the tractor because I’m too drunk and frozen to be doing anything, drive the tractor back. I get the skid loader moving and drive that home to do my driveway so I don’t have to buy a shovel, get four other driveways done on the way home. Spent five hours doing driveways, my wife and neighbor think I’m in jail or dead. Somehow got my wife to take me to pick up a Stromboli after all this. It snowed again this morning so I ended up having to buy a shovel anyway. I realized why I don’t drink anymore but I found my 365 Special I though was gone forever digging the snowblower out.

I went through 5 tanks to find one that did not leak. I cleaned the others up and am giving them the Red Kote treatment now.

I had to get a little creative with my tumbling set up. I normally clamp this faceplate in the 3 jaw chuck and roll it each way for 30 minutes to an hour with the tank 1/2 filled with BB's.

I had some today with enough corrosion on the front & back that I had to tumble them the other way.

Installed the extended wear kit on my winter work gloves …..

Stuck a good sharp skip chain on the 066 …..
IMG_5614.jpeg

I hauled a few large rounds up to the stove to block up. I like this saw 😏
IMG_5611.jpeg

Some little basturd squirrel stored a rock in one of these chunks at some point in time 🤬
IMG_5613.jpeg

Once they were blocked up I cleaned up the junk on the ground and hauled a bunch more wood to the boiler pad. The blocked chunks were waaaaaay to wet to burn so they got stuck in IBC totes to dry out for a year or two.

Played with the new $74 shoebox size, amazon flux core welder. Very surprised at what it could do without any wire speed control. Straighten and welded/reinforced a buddy’s ATV plow that was starting to get to the point of stress fracturing at key attachment points. Should be good forever

Wanted it to stay put till the back cut was done and only smash the old rotten shed roof a little so I hooked the all purpose vehicle up to it. Got dragged about 5 feet.

Today
Sunny, with a high near 45. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.
Near future looks better than recent past for temps
I AM Gonna ENJOY the warmer weather.
