Was enjoying my coffee at 1030 when my neighbour calls and asks if I heard the sirens and saw the smoke. The smoke was coming from the area of our backup generator for the town.
Oh yea it was -44C
Power went out moments later
Luckily I have a bunch of light towers. I went and got one brought it home. Had to heat it with a propane tourch for 1/2 hour to get it warm enough to start
Cut the end off a cord and wired up my boiler and had heat going for my house.
Then needed to fuel it up as no power for fuel pumps.

@EFSM - thank you so much for that lead, it is indeed the governed carburetor. I had not encountered that before on an HL model and missed it completely as I went through the carburetor.

Now if the owner of the saw can find the guard I can call it complete.

After probably overloading the poor sxs I was fixing the driveway and lost the box. The three point drops when you run the loader and the pin gave up. Everybody said it was stupid to not fill the box with concrete. I filled it with scrap so I could unload it to pick it up.IMG_5557.jpegIMG_5559.jpeg

Couldn’t do Christmas Eve at the mother in laws. My stone thawed and Friday is the ice storm. I’m starting to lose the stone under the floor. Who knows if the perforated pipe will do anything but I don’t want to trap water.

I’ve been pretty well stuck inside since Friday. I have to wear spikes on my shoes to get across the yard but I did thaw out my Element in case a neighbor has an emergency. The roads aren’t decent but everyone’s driveways are brutal. IMG_5629.jpegI should start listing parts for sale on here but…

Cut a bed load off the pile, took it home and split all the maple. Not sure why I brought home the gum. I’ve split several face cords of it green and it’s fine. This however is not fine.

All the wood goes in my firewood stand. I donate all the proceeds to children and young adult Autism programing at a local branch of the NC autism society.

I went through a Stihl TS350 for a guy a few weeks ago, when he picked it up he left a Jonsereds 520. It was a filthy little saw...

The oil pump is literally inside the crankcase, and to replace the oil line and the impulse line you must disassemble the engine from housing.

I did have the crankshaft seals on hand, but there was a bit of a leak at the intake boot under pressure so I applied some Dow Corning 732 and reinstalled the boot. Seems to be holding pressure & vacuum now.

I had to take the Jonsereds 520 SP all the way back down to correct a non-oiling issue, when I replaced the oil line out of the crankcase I did not get the brass insert properly seated and it was preventing any oil from coming out. Here it is after we seated it fully.

Maybe you can tell me how to get a little old Poulan top handle saw to oil. It’s one of those with a screw-in check valve behind the clutch. I can’t get it to oil for the life of me.
