I did notice while taking this one apart that the air vane mechanism is all missing, or did they not equip the cut off saw with the air vane/choke governor?

Mark
I have the ipls for them at home but that’s a newer one and if it’s electronic ignition it’s limited rpm by the coil. Same as the newer 08s chainsaws with electronic ignition. Some of those saws had the sem ignition that’s the same as the 056 and they had a habit of failing.

Not sure if this helps, but I rebuilt a ts360 (same engine, cases, etc but different plastics and air filter) and it didn’t have the air vane governor.

That's one way to do it. I can't say I've ever seen a pipe wrench set up like that.
I got a lifting lug stuck in a 4” bung. I’m pretty sure pulling on the lug hard enough to lift the back of the excavator was enough to trash threads. The tank was 9400 pounds plus it was still partially buried. The hole keeps falling in and there’s no access to the other side so just pull until it comes out.

This is a TS350 if I can read it correctly, points ignition.

Cleaning the old concrete off these is a chore. It will look much better when I am done, I expect it should run O.K. with 150 PSI compression. Piston looks pretty good, a few scratches on the intake side, exhaust if pretty clean yet. I should have it running tomorrow but I will need to get a new v-belt before I try and spin the wheel.

We got a bad storm with straight line winds that I think knocked out around 40k people’s power. I got a 13k predator last year but never ran it under load. Last night it’s surging and some of the led bulbs in the house are changing brightness with the surge. I got the bright idea to turn the idle up to around 3700 rpm to smooth it out. It must’ve done something with hz and I couldn’t find a meter to check but I had the ceiling lights flashing and the battery back up losing its mind. I ended up just adjusting it to what made the lights look the best.

I've had similar issues with LED bulbs and generator power. I have a 10k B&S with no inverter technology and the less than perfect sine wave messes with the newer electronics. It seems the best setup has been to try and put a good steady load on the generator and then tune the RPMs so lights don't flicker. Some electronics are so reliant on perfect 60hz that I just have to unplug them when on backup power.
On FleaBay there are some nice inexpensive hour meters with tachometer function as well.

I have a wireless echo tach but on board is a good vs losing the echo in the yard. Most of the important stuff is plugged into the battery backup. I keep the mini split off in the garage but other than a few $150 tvs I’m low tech. When I was playing wastewater operator we had some old military generators that had a hertz knob to adjust it independently.

You are correct. RPM is how you set the frequency. Last time I got a new meter I picked it out specifically so I could set the rpm on generators.
What meter did you get. My dad let my BIL use my fluke and it might be hard to get back. I have a pile of meters but the four I checked today don’t have frequency. Most are cheaper ones I used to leave in different vehicles.

Flew my 3 meter speed kite some this afternoon as well as yesterday. I was having trouble breaking string even after upgrading to 350 lb line, so instead of knotting it at the ends I went with a Brummel splice at the ends to maintain strength and so far it has been holding up. This model has supposedly been clocked at over 200 km/h.
This is flying it several weeks ago with 80’ lines. It now has 100’. At 190 lb, I’m being lifted off the ground when the gusts get much over 30 mph. I ordered it from Into The Wind kites but they are now out of stock of the 3.0 model. https://www.dutchflyingobjects-shop...-lycos-ps/lycos-3-0-ps-kite-only/#description

It is back together and runs, but has an unusual miss at higher speeds. Sounds to me like an ignition issue but I've been over the points and wiring, points are set at .015" and the wiring all looks good. I did run it with the stop wire disconnected and no change. I replaced the spark plug but that didn't change anything either. Almost acts as though the points are floating but the spring seems to be very strong yet. Any idea how one would actually change out the condenser on one of these? It looks like the condenser is pressed into the stator plate.

This is what I have. It was the cheapest thing I could find that had both hz and a dc current clamp for hunting around for automotive shorts without back probing and some quality of construction. I think I paid around $40 for it a couple of years ago and the price seems to be about the same still. I have an embarrassingly large collection of free harbor freight meters from the last 25 years that are great for most things just not the two things I mentioned above. I can't justify a fluke for how little electrical precision is involved in my life.

Are you sure this doesn’t have a harmonic fuel limiter in the carburetor? Most concrete saws have a limiter on the carb or on the ignition system.
