I was helping clean the neighbors yard up. There was a cabinet covered with a tarp along the driveway. They were going to burn it but it’s 5’ x 5’ and old and pretty neat so I drug it home. Two oriental roaches ran out of it. I got the third to identification. I’m losing my mind that I’m going to have an infestation in my woodpile now. Should’ve burned the damn thing.

Find yourself a big 3phase motor (10hp or bigger) for cheap. The control box and wiring is pretty reasonable, but new motors more than double the cost.
Around here a old 10-15hp used to be fairly easy to locate but with copper prices as high as they are many have went to scrap. Obviously it has been decades ago and times are much different now but I saw many go to scrap when I worked for the Corps of Engineers in the early 1990's.

I have a couple converters and they can be quite handy.

Big 3phase motors definitely aren’t as common these days, but they come up on auctions and garage sales some times. A few years ago Kurt Vice company closed a facility down in Pueblo and had pallet racks of big old motors they were selling for scrap weight. If I had brought my truck instead of the grocery-getter several would have come home.

I inspected a 1990 262xp that arrived yesterday. Cylinder is Mahle not original but does have an HDA 87. I have a 1990 KS cylinder I could swap but IDK.

I went to both junkyards on Beck Rd, hit the gettysburger then walked around the old part of town. My wife wanted to try to find bullet holes in the homes

oh hell, you weren't far from me then. ever been to Blue & Gray bar at the circle? parking sucks (like most of in-town parking) but the food is great.
