This is my 3 rd healer
I love them, tough, loyal, smart, and the perfect size.
If this guy is anything like the first two I will be a happy guy.
He seems to be well on his way, he had an amazing start to life with the couple I got him from.
I had a Red Bone hound that lived to be 17. He was a helluva dog. Would kill coyotes and drag them home to show em off. He got dementia like a person would. At the end, he didn't recognize me, and was terrified of me. That really broke my heart.I grew up running Walker, Cur, and Bluetick hounds. I liked them but they were not true companions. My wife grew up with Border Collies. They were house dogs. I always thought having a dog in the house was ridiculous. Well she changed me......for the better. We were in college and when got married we had to move around a bit while I was teaching so she was without a dog. We were living 40 miles south of the farm. One night just before Christmas my Dad called me and said I had big decision to make. Nine years before our neighbor was murdered by his son. His widow was a helluva woman and she was determined to stay on the farm. We farmed the place and she always said we would have first option to purchase it down the road. Well after nine years she called Dad and said she was tired of the winters and moving to town. When her husband was killed she went to the shelter and got a big Yellow Lab mix for protection. That was "Pete". Well during the "negotiations" to buy the farm ole Pete was a a big point of contention. Dad asked her since she was moving into town what she was planning to do with Pete. She said she was just going to take him back to the shelter. Dads said "the hell you are, if we buy this farm we are getting the dog too. That dog has been your faithful companion for 9 years and he is going to stay here". We did buy the farm and the dog did come with it. He was a gentle dog but a horrible dog in another sense. He was an outdoor dog but we let him in during poor weather. His hearing was soo sensitive he would destroy the doors and windows trying to get inside if he heard any loud noise. His mental state got soo bad that we had to put him down at about age 17 which is a damn long time for a big dog. He is buried down by the chicken house.
Maybe I imagined it. Did some research and Australian Blue Heelers are born with tails; and, rarely docked. There is a breed called Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog that are born with bob tails. They look very similar, if not the exact same, imo.Mine came with a tail, I got her from a local guy a few years back when she was only a few months old. My dad told me I should get her tail docked but I'm glad I didn't.

Thank you. I think the clipped tail is common in the states I have never seen one in CanadaI thought they either clipped the tails, or were born without them. I guess I have never seen one with a tail. Good looking pup.
So is this for really an updated shop or a new grow room. Enquiring minds want to know. This morning, the lumber we used to build these benches was in the log still.

New shop. But a grow room is a good idea too. LOLSo is this for really an updated shop or a new grow room. Enquiring minds want to know.
I'll be getting mine in the ground in about 3 weeks. Still too warm here in ohio. Hell i still have one cucumber plant, san marzano tomatoes and a 2nd run of snow peas still doing their thingGot the garlic planting as finished as it's going to be this year. With having to rotate the planting area, we were only able to spaciously put in 76 cloves. However, after the spring thaw I'm going to add a bunch of seed in an unplanted area that I left, and try a spring to late fall batch for something new to me.
Heelers can and do get swimmers tail very easy, if you are going to have a lake dog docking the tail will eliminate the pain it causes. The main reason Heelers tails are docked is to keep them from being stepped on by livestock. A lot of people think it hurts their balance when docked, it most certainly doesn’t…Why would a tail be cut off?
