Managed to score a pretty good deal on a local home owner owned 026 for a very fair price. Just picked it up over lunch, will try and get some pics later.

Now just need schedule an appointment to send it away to get it Doctored.

Tagged 9 new calves, vaccinated and wormed the mothers. Freeze branded 14 last year heifers, wormed gave a shot to make them open. Pulled one calf....

Working cattle, brings back memories of my younger days. It would take 6-8 hours for us to separate and work 200 - 225 calves and any brood cows that needed a look.



By the way, I am the younger guy twisting the tail, the gentleman with the bucket is the vet.

In later years I was able to move up front and do the worming, tagging, ear notching, implants, dehorning and teeth checking. It was a bit easier on the body.

On way home from work stopped at the cematary to pay my respects to the old man then cut the grass with my uncles lawn mower that supposesly would not start but fired up first pull. Went put after suppor and fired up the saw and finished the last few peices of slab would i missed a while back. Wasnt happy with the chain so i resharpened it with a new file then made a bunch of cookies and cutting much better now. Guess i shouldnt be so cheap and throw out my worn out files.lol
Now just relaxing and having a beer.

It really make you appreciate a gentle working bunch. I tackled a new born the other day because I was tired of playing games, let me say i was within seconds realizing I made a mistake. Unfortunately my stubbornness decided to finish what I started, man did I feel it later that night.

Are the calves making them prolapse? Dad had problems with that. His bull had too big of a head for heifers. Calf would pull the mom inside out
