My first job out of high school was in their machine shop making all their sights. They make nice stuff! Very nice gun store as well if you are ever in the Davison areaI picked up my Browning / Winchester 95 last night with the Williams peep sight installed, so I went to the range today and set a couple of targets at 100 yds to sight it in. To say that I am pleased would be a gross understatement!
For an open sight lever gun with virgin brass … I'm stoked! First two sight in shots were high and to the left, but only 5/8" apart. Then I moved the sights and shot a 3 shot group, all in my circle 1+11/16". Afterward, I moved the sight for 1" to the left and it should be good!
Now it just needs a set of sling swivels and I'll have a great hunting gun! (This thing was in my gun cabinet for 35 years w/o being shot)!!!
Year and details.
My 2006 GT is stroked to 4.9 ltr with Eagle crank, rods + pistons, has a Whipple Twin Screw SC and Magnaflow cats and JBA Mufflers. Power is not a problem, but to improve the hook up I have Griggs Racing lower control arms, Griggs Racing Torque Arm, Steeda adjustable panhard bar, and Steeda 9.5" wide wheels with Nitto rubber.
A Steeda suspension kit significantly improves handling, drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads improve braking, and a MGW shifter makes shifting effortless.
I guess mine is kinda like a do it yourself Cobra. The SC makes it feel kinda like an old fashion built big block. (This is Mustang #10, I've had them with 390s and a 68-428, and I stuffed a 427 Ford Motor into a 70 Boss 302 body.)
Am I seeing something odd with the rings and bases or is it just the photos? Looks like the rear ring is barely catching the front edge of the rear base.Had to run to one of my suppliers this afternoon. My favorite gun stores is literally 1/4 mile from them. Made the mistake of going in....hahaha
Left with a new Browning .270
I'd been wanting to get a new .270 as, I gave my Winchester to my youngest sons a couple years ago. I just couldn't resist when I saw the maple stock on this one... There goes my top handle cash...lol.
It's killing me to not be outside dialing it in at the moment (just got home). I ain't because I know a couple of neighbors are out hunting right now, & I don't want to be that guy. However, come late morning/early afternoon tomorrow, I'm slinging some .270 rounds downrange.
That's beautiful!Had to run to one of my suppliers this afternoon. My favorite gun stores is literally 1/4 mile from them. Made the mistake of going in....hahaha

It's a unique Leopold mount for this rifle. Needed some clearance. I had to double take it myself but, saw why.Am I seeing something odd with the rings and bases or is it just the photos? Looks like the rear ring is barely catching the front edge of the rear base.
Does it have a detachable magazine or the hinged floor plate? Always wished my model 70 had a magazine. It's a unique Leopold mount for this rifle. Needed some clearance. I had to double take it myself but, saw why.

I agree...! Looking forward to shooting it tomorrow...!!!That's beautiful!
I agree. It's a great round. I've had plenty of shots find the pump station with one. I had a Winchester for years. I gave it to my youngest Marine for Christmas a few years ago. Been wanting to replace it for years. Just couldn't help myself when I saw this one. This might piss off the younger crowd but after almost 95 years the .270 Win is still, for my money, the medium bore cartridge all others are judged against
Yeah, yeah, long action, heavier, yada yada...
I don't care
Congratulations sir!!!
