Idk. Looks perty good to me. I'd roll with it awhile longer if I was making cutters like thatWell first try ended up being about 3 tries.
Going to have to wait for some non worn out wheels. Wheel is about 6-3/8” right now. Working with some older Stihl .325 at the moment.

And then bush it down and run it on the 511You should be able o use the wheel up to a little below 6”.
hadn’t been able to find a measurement on that yet thanks for the info. You should be able o use the wheel up to a little below 6”.
I also hadn’t thought about doing this before. I like the way you think. And then bush it down and run it on the 511
It all depends on how aggressive your cutter angles are. I've had chains cut great at .020" rakers and I've had others need .035". Hard to tell for sure, but your bottom and side plate angles look really sharpOn another note how well would progressive depth gauges work on square ground/filed?
Paperwork says something about doing gullets on this thing but nothing about how to do them. I don’t mind hand filing them still as that’s how I’ve always cleared gullets but would be interested to know.
I finally found it in the instructions. Step 11.) describes gullet grinding. If not hand filing them I may just do gullets on the Oregon grinder. It’s quicker for me to do them with file though.Simington used to sell an attachment for grinding rakers. Not sure if they are still available, but it looks like it could be adjusted to grind gullets.
Here is some literature that shows the attachment (fig 2):

Here is the thread I got that from:

I have a Simington modded by srcarr52 that can grind gullets. Might be an option.

Thank you for showing that. The Simington with the adjustable arm shouldn’t need the modifications but it might in the end I will need to play with it.
For this interested. Here are photos of the manual I received with this grinder.

I do rakers on it already but can’t set it up dedicated to rakers. I do chains for other folks on it still. Either wa requires setup the Oregon requires much less though by means of no disassembly to do them.
Currently I grind all that needs to be sharpened then switch over to rakers. No change in the process, just doing square on a different machine. Would like some good photos of silver taker machine to see if I could replicate it.

Your rakers look plenty low, with that much forward lean I wouldn't touch them.Wanting pictures of the motor hinge and the cut depth adjustment mostly.
On another note, worked with the grinder some more tonite. I set the side angle to 15* and top to 12 as was suggested earlier in the thread and came up with these.

It seemed that way to me as well about the corner but couldn’t tell if it was my eyes playing with me I noticed that last night about the gauges and checked them they are slightly above a..025 depth gauge measure gonna re check with straight and feelers laterYour rakers look plenty low, with that much forward lean I wouldn't touch them.
Keep an eye on the corner, it looks a smidge high, but it will cut
