Have never seen that color yet
It's in the madsens catalog. Thought I would try it. Build like cut off wheelHave never seen that color yet
The simington is the old one. 450 model. I got it just to put an aggressive wheel on it, I dought you would want it. Most of my stuff is old
Gray is my favorite when sharpening for others. Can clean up rocked chains in one pass normally. Just wears a lot faster than blue. 2 grinders one with it and then the ziggy with a blue would be best. That way you can get them square with the Simington and then if you want the other angles touch it up on the ZiggyThe grey one is the only one I haven't tried. Guess I ordered the wrong one.
Do all 4-5 produce the exact same chain? I know as my wheel wears (in diameter)it changes the profile of the cutter a bit.I can adjust the carriage to keep it close, but it still may be slightly off.
Yes, that's what I'm wanting to do on heavy rolled or rocked chains, then put on the other grinder. If the cutter isn't bad, doesn't take long to sharpen it. I'm just trying not to heat up the cutter.Gray is my favorite when sharpening for others. Can clean up rocked chains in one pass normally. The gray makes a decent cutter. I don't think you'll be able to duplicate the angles on the swing arm to the ziggy. The gray will need to be dressed a lot more so I recommend getting 2 of them when you order.Yes, that's what I'm wanting to do on heavy rolled or rocked chains, then put on the other grinder. That was my thinking
What I'm wanting to do, is get the rocked cutter close. Then finish on the ziggy. The gray makes a decent cutter. I don't think you'll be able to duplicate the angles on the swing arm to the ziggy. The gray will need to be dressed a lot more so I recommend getting 2 of them when you order.
You can modify the pro Sharp to do better angles. I would like to check out your ziggy one day to see how close to race chain angles you could get for the bigger saws. What I'm wanting to do, is get the rocked cutter close. Then finish on the ziggy.
My friends pro sharp won't duplicate the ziggy. It's just to old I reckon
Good luck on race chains. Hope you have lots of free time. More to it than just the "term".I'm hoping from this forum to increase my business for offering a service to sharpen square chains. We sharpen ALOT of round. But would like to see more square coming in.
Also hoping to get into race chains, but race chains none of us has made, so it's all new. The cant racing at Randy's GTG has me hooked
I'm hoping you will help me. And forget the pastGood luck on race chains. Hope you have lots of free time. More to it than just the "term".
Race chains are new to me. Im still reading. I need a race saw.Good luck on race chains. Hope you have lots of free time. More to it than just the "term".
Then what do I need?Don't need a race saw to practice making faster chains
consistent Wood was taking away few days ago, lol.Any saw and consistent wood. Do steps modifying the chain to see the gains.
