Yes. Side plate angle. Over 5° and it pulls read hard
Awesome. With a new stone I'll make some tweaks. Let me ask. When you read madsens angles and yours of course are they taken from the tie straps or the top of the tooth.? lol. I need to sit and read the rest of this thread

I'd go for more of a vertical side plate, When he says it will pull hard he ain't kidding. Almost sucks the life out of the saw. I learned a lot about chain at the gtg.

I'll show ya a vid of a chain with too much forward lean. It's a 20" 404 8 pin on my hybrid.
The saw is totally self feeding, I actually had to hold it back so it wouldn't bog it right down

Ok boys I've read about half this thread now and couldn't wait to try out the new grinder. My stone is shot. But I'll order a new one Monday. View attachment 45177
Good looking grinder. Square ground is all that I use now. Have you tried any of your ground chain yet?

I have not. Bought jacked up that chain trying to figure it out. Lol. You seen the good tooth. lol.
Yes, your correct, that chain is jacked up. Hope you can straighten that tooth out, its jacked. Lol.
After you get the hang of it, you should be able to sharpen square faster than round. If it isn't rocked.
Keep us updated on what you do, we are watching.

Indeed I will. Gonna call madsens as soon as they open and get a couple new stones on the way. Probably a blue and another salmon

Again I need to take the time to finish reading this thread. But if there's any suggestions on seeing your edge I'm all ears. I had just touched up the some when I did that cutter and still that corner isn't real defining. Lol.

Some cheater type reading glasses may help. I end up looking at damn near every tooth, which makes it a painfuly slow process. They do cut great and like I said earlier can be pretty dang durable in oak. Where did you snag your grinder?

I wish I could help you more, but I don't have the grinder your using.
I do like the salmon wheel. I've ordered the brown and blue. The brown will be used in my simington for rocked chains and converting. Figured it mite save time by doing this, then finish up on my other grinder. Hope it isn't a huge waste of time, but a rocked chain will take a toll on your wheels.
