I have been pleasantly surprised with durability. You can go nuts trying to dial in perfection. I have a salmon wheel and converted most of my chains. I have a blue wheel to try this winter to touch up with a smoooth finish..
Sorry to hijack but is anyone else having trouble getting onto the simington website?

Been trying for a couple of months now and it seems it's down, maybe they've gone bump? Hopefully not!

The wax can be used on any wheel as well.

I was just using the bottom of the tie straps as a guide to guess. More lean feeds better. 0 will be a touch smoother but needs lower rakers

You were right Mike. It was just about perfectly vertical off the tie straps. I've got it just back a hair now.

Because of the variation of the chain I found instead of trusting the stop, I watch the top angle as I grind. When the last bit of hook goes away, the corner is perfect if the stone is dressed properly. It eliminates needing to see the corner of the wheel which is a bit tough.
