The 084 muffler I built over the winter. Not sure if the baffle I made helps or hinders the saw, put it in there for a little back pressure. The saw ran strong (til I blew it up) lol. Long story but I made a big boo-boo because I didn't know as much as I thought did about the really early 084s. It will be repaired hopefully this weekend at Duanes GTG.....

My latest muffler mod on the 371XP with a 3/4" pipe. When I took the muffler off there were still machine marks on the original piston. I doubt if I put 20 hours on that saw since I bought it new.

Honestly I can't say as this saw was brought back from the dead, never had a chance to run it bone stock (the muffler was absolutely trashed prior to me owning it). It had nice power all through thr cut though. I cut the base down to .024 squish without a gasket, slight timing advance, one of the big dampers on these 084s (in my opinion) is the throat where the air filter cover mounts on the carb. I found a velocity stack for the saw, going to make that fit and also send rhe saw Huskihl for some love. This saw was an experiment from the get-go, I think it'll be good once I get all the mods done.

395XP muffler. Hydraulic fitting for a 3/4” hose had the portion that is supposed to get crimped onto the braided rubber hose lopped off. Carved a hole with a dremel & carbide burr.

It took me under 4 minutes to cut that out of a chunk of old fender I've had laying around.
But he does have nice deflectors, I've used them before.
