Welded this 143 muffler all the way around and made a nice big port on the side.

Hello! Has anyone done a modification to a Stihl 056 Magnum muffler? Looking for a few ideas for the front. The original design isn't really inspiring the addition of round pipes or tubes. This would be on the lower half, where the top cover cut out is.

This is on an 032 which obviously isnt the same, but I think the same approach would work on the 056.

The solder is actually a little bit more gold than the lighter stainless muffler. I grind any of it off that isn’t at the joint. Sometimes it’s hard to tell and it doesn’t show up until I hit it with a torch to darken it like the rest of the muffler.

Had a spare 461 muffler so decided to make a mouthy dual port out of it. I took a few pictures as I was building.

Some more. Wanted a way to remove and clean or replace the screens. Put a little spot weld on the nut inside the muffler. Oversized deflector over stock opening after making it much more open to keep the heat away from the chain brake / handlebar.

And a little sanding and of course quality flat black heat paint and we have the finished project.

I see all of the nice mods everyone makes on the outside, but how deep do those pipes protrude into the muffler? I was thinking that further in would help with noise control
