In the vid, his chain seemed to be feeding just fine.

When I talk about saws and what I like I'm always referening to logging,I'm a old logger and I can't help it so when I say I would rather use a 064 hybrid or 066/660 or a 395 which is what I ran mostly it's because your out in the middle of nowhere and your packing your saw and gas and oil so I'm only carrying one saw and like everyone else the saw you cut it down with is the one you top it with.
Like most every logger I know, they want the most powerful saw they can carry and not a single logger I know has ever said his saw was to heavy, also a 044 falling timber here will have a very short life and that's why there is none here, the pto side can't take it.
If u didn't have to cut it down maybe I'd top with a smaller saw but I doubt it.
Cut a giant crotch limb off a white oak with a 044 and a 28" when it's 150 degrees out and you will throw it off down the hillside and find a bigger saw.
Now cutting firewood sure there great.
If the saw is to heavy then you won't make it past dinner the first day and won't have to worry about it.I never in my life paid any attention to what any tool weighed.
Let alone a saw.
Workin for a serive is the easiest job ive ever had labor wise.
Jason, different equipment for different tasks. They log regularly up at my property in the Catskills, so few trees ever exceed 20". Mostly Ash, Cherry, Hard Maple and some Red Oak. 044/440s and & 372s were/are commonly used.
If you were logging virgin forest, I'm sure it would be different.
The local tree guys down here seems to use mostly 460/461s as their every day saw, with a few 066/660s for the big tasks. You don't want to be working out of a bucket all day long, or climbing, with a 660 (unless it is really big, like when the also hire the crane). Their top handle 201Ts also see a lot of use. Those seem to be the 3 main saws.
So far, they seem to really like the 460/461s after I muff mod them a bit and pull the limiters.

Exactly.I know a few loggers, and they often work alone, and drive in the the woods on the skidder, there is only room for one saw. So like Jason said, it's gonna be a big one. Another saw in the truck at the landing.

More hook on that chain would bite harder.
Honestly any saw over 70 cc feels same weight to me. But I'm youngI never in my life paid any attention to what any tool weighed.

I'm sending my saw off tomorrow, I can post a video of packing it up. It's not much of a saw, can't wait to get it back @paragonbuilderAMEN Jason. Seems like only a few of us run saws and post videos.
What chain you running on that saw
