I lowered the rakers a little more, went back to my tried and true .325 7 pin. My Stihl teammate Mustang Mike gave me great advice. [emoji106]

AND there is still some more left in it!

The chain made the saw nervous and jumpy. Those tach readings are right there for you. ;)
How much rpm has the saw picked up from breaking in Jeff?

Seems to be 4 stroking just fine at 16k no load in the vid, almost 1500 rpm more than when I delivered it to you, IIRC.

Have you checked the piston?

I wonder what tossing the 8 pin on would do?

Your 026 is my new recipe. Guess I will keep using it.

The stork should be bringing you a few more little MOFO's by next week ;)

Jusy get back from fixin another Hoosky?
Lol

Teeth Jeff... fixin teeth. :)

Got done fixin my bandmill the other day, bearings went in like butter. Started one pull. Hit the gas.... throttle cable broke. :(

Next project in the basement is a 372 clone project I have to finish. Its a huztl kit... so we shall see how that goes ...and that will get video'd.

Beyond that i'm trying to come up with a poor man's porting solution.... per Walt's suggestion. we shall see :)

Maybe you could help Jeff with his rakers?

That looked great Jeff! Good job!!
But you want it smooth too. If it's jumpy then I would go with an 8 pin and a little less raker. Smooth it out a bit.

Cause there are a lot of smart people where you live. They just buy more Stihls.

I think it has more to do with dealer saturation, there is a Stihl dealer around every corner, the next closest Husqvarna dealer to me in any direction is 45 minutes away.

They went in batches. I got 5 385 and 3 288 that were smoked. Then a few months later they found me and I got all the 66 and 460s. 385s needed cranks in about half. They run 50:1 orange bottle. I need to ask the guy and see if he's got another pile of them.

Saw runs super. Gained 1500 to 2000 rpms since I got it.
Will check out internals later. I am sure they are fine.

In all seriousness, if anyone doesn't know me, I just joke when I knock hooskies. Just fun banter.
I like any saw that runs and cuts. [emoji106]
I like Husqvarna, Stihl, Dolmar, Solo, Jonsored, Echo, and any other saw I failed to mention.
I don't want anything I type to get taken out of context. Just friendly banter. [emoji106][emoji481]

Picture looks great. I like to carefully lightly drag my finger backwards over the point of the tooth -- if it feels like a hypodermic needle about to jab you, then I'm happy with the point. As far as gullet and such I let the guide be my guide such that 3/5 of the file is below the top of tooth and 2/5 above the top of tooth if I remember right. I was surprised how high the file can ride on the guide it seems wrong, but apparently provides the best depth for an optimal tooth. I'm by all means no expert but filing chains is therapeutic for me... even more so than wrenching on saws.

Then there's square filing... no idea! Find a Silvey grinder!
I would like to try John Reilly's techniques at some point or what @MustangMike demoed at the last GTG in CT. Mike's rig was pretty cool.
