In all seriousness, if anyone doesn't know me, I just joke when I knock hooskies. Just fun banter.
I like any saw that runs and cuts. [emoji106]
I like Husqvarna, Stihl, Dolmar, Solo, Jonsored, Echo, and any other saw I failed to mention.
I don't want anything I type to get taken out of context. Just friendly banter. [emoji106][emoji481]
If someone don't like it give them a big gfy

Jeff, your tooth looks just fine, but if the saw is jumpy check to make sure all the rakers are uniform. It does look like you really dropped em, maybe a bit too much.

Also, the sharper the tooth, the smoother it should cut. More angle will give a faster cut, but less durability. For round file, 30 degrees is usually the sweet spot for hardwood.

You didn't specify how close. Lol

If you had to limb with both saws for a few hours the difference would be very noticeable. For felling & bucking, not so much. The nice thing about the 044/440 (& 372) is the versatility. They can do it all. If you can only bring one saw for everything, that is likely what you will choose.

When you are reaching out, up & over to cut things, saw weight becomes much more important. I always felt that 044/440 were light enough to limb all day with, but as I'm now in my mid 60s, I'm gaining a preference for lighter saws for that task.

Also, yard trees generally have about 50 times the limbs of woods trees, which are mostly trunk.

When I talk about saws and what I like I'm always referening to logging,I'm a old logger and I can't help it so when I say I would rather use a 064 hybrid or 066/660 or a 395 which is what I ran mostly it's because your out in the middle of nowhere and your packing your saw and gas and oil so I'm only carrying one saw and like everyone else the saw you cut it down with is the one you top it with.
Like most every logger I know, they want the most powerful saw they can carry and not a single logger I know has ever said his saw was to heavy, also a 044 falling timber here will have a very short life and that's why there is none here, the pto side can't take it.
If u didn't have to cut it down maybe I'd top with a smaller saw but I doubt it.

Cut a giant crotch limb off a white oak with a 044 and a 28" when it's 150 degrees out and you will throw it off down the hillside and find a bigger saw.

Now cutting firewood sure there great.
