Me 2. Simple but effective! That sleeper saw sounds really good loaded in softwood. Sounds just like mu 660 dp w/28" 50 lgx 2in1
Your chain is much faster 20%+

Yep.
The chain I'm running has cut a bunch of wood since it's been filed.

I'm going to a landing tomorrow to get some big oak crotches so I can use a 32" 404. I have a new chain for it and one that I can file a little bit to compare them.

They'll hold up even better once you get a little more side plate support for the corner. Makes it smoother too as it severs the wood on the side instead of pulling the point sideways as far.

That stuff is a pain to file but lasts forever.p if you don't hit metal.

The new round chain hit with a double bevel is fast. That one is the best I've ever done but I'm no pro square filer,I really just started. I can round file though.

They get a touch faster but a good bit smoother the more side plate you get.

That chain is hard to turn,it pulls hard on the saw,my 24" chains have been filed a bunch and are smoothand much easier to turn

I like them when they load the saw down like that. They usually cut about the fastest loaded pretty good

Spent about an hr trying to sharpen a 20" loop for the 7900, and all it made was dust.

I will eventually get tge hang of it but this on and off trying and failing kind of is rough.

When it comes to my round chains, I feel like I could circumsize a fly, they are that sharp lol. durability wise is pretty good I lost count on how many tanks it has. It still feeds pretty nice.

Amazing how long a chain lasts sometimes. I have cut firewood before that a chain would last about 2-3 tanks before it was shot.

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

When I decide to learn something new it will consume my life for however long it takes for me to feel I have it down.
I have literally filed miles of chain away learning and becoming good at round filing but now I'm on to square and I like it, I'm not very good at it but having mike Lee hang out at the shop with me and file chains definitely has helped.

I am certainly not the best, which is why I developed a method to cheat, and it has worked well for me.

I have a wooden box about 1' high, and I drew two 45 degree lines on it (one for RH, on for LH). I then put a stump vice on the bar and put the saw on top of the wooded box and I sit on an automotive stool (with wheels) and sharpen that way. I can see the corners clearly, and I move each tooth on the same side to the same spot (I don't work my way down the bar) to help me keep everything consistent. With my off hand, I lock the tooth in place by placing a paint stirrer (vertically) in back of it.

I think my system is simple, and it works well for me. Before I drew the lines on the box, my angles were drifting.
