FD is the highest JASO 2T rating. It will have the most cleaning properties in it. I run FB rated oil but I keep an eye on deposits and deal with them.when I have to.

That's what I figured but then I was thinking "full Dino" oil. I was just having a discussion on Dino vs synthetic motor oil for Toyotas with a friend. I guess I was thinking Dino vs synthetic for saws as well. Not sure if there is a such thing.

I only run two stroke oil fullfilling the highest norms and the below requirements.

full synthetic
for air cooled engines
API TC or
ISO-L-EGD or
Jaso FC/FD

I don't care one second about brand name when above criteria is fullfilled. And there are enough generic brands out there that full fill the criteria. My current oil is generic from a motorcycle store and I have already run about a gallon through my equipment in three years.

What about Red Armor? My farmer's co op is an Echo dealer. I agree that dealing with a drooly saw and replacing plugs is much cheaper than a cylinder and piston! Like I said, the saw is stick but does get worked hard. If I get Randy to port it after I slow down some, I am sure he will direct me on what to use then! Seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on that one.
Ut Oh! Where is Keith? lol

No more synthetic for me. After all these threads i decided i was wasting money for the mili second the oil is in the cylinder and crankcase. Castrol 2T mineral oil 40/50:1 depending on how much i spill or runs down the jug. $4.50 a quart.

Not to be rude but most loggers in my area know very little about saws or oil but only that they work and get a job done. Most use the community store no name being the cheapest they can find. Most around here use processors and polesaws. The majority of loggers that still own a saw here will be like 044, 440, 046,460, 660, 066, 288, 181,266, etc. Most of the tree service companies do have new saws from small or big though

I have burned through 10 gallons of VP synthetic and I can't get over how good the exhaust smells and my eyes don't burn. Pricy though.
