In addition, PIB's used in two cycle oils are designed such that the "unzip" cleanly into combustible gasses once they reach a certain temp. Esters do the same sort of thing.
PIB's used in VII for 4 cycle oils are designed for the opposite. They are designed to be extremely stabil and sheer resistant.
