I only use the primer if I run out of gas, which I try not to do. Otherwise, the saw usually starts on the second pull every morning, and on one the rest of the day. I have a 562 that is fairly old, and haven’t had any issues with the primer. I do use non-ethanol gas.
I am at my lowest saw count at the moment. I’ve sold a lot of my used saws in the past few months. I do a fair amount of saw buying, using, and selling. Lol.

When you have a clapped out 462 or 500 for $350 I’ll take one[emoji23]

The real gems are the clapped out Farm Bosses on Craigslist. I bought this clapped out one for $200. Never cut wood.. Flipped for some coin.

I always say I’m going to keep a saw forever, but it seems I always have an opportunity to sell it after using it for 6-10 months or so. They’ve certainly earned their keep by then, and I get decent money out of them. I’ve had 3 462’s, 2 572’s, 4 661’s, 390’s, 372’s, a 395, a 362, a 7900, and quite a few 461’s. They’ve all found new homes. I only have 2 500i’s, a 562, and a few 461’s at the moment! I just sold my 661. It’s a good excuse for me to buy more, eh? What should I get next?

Those pieces of crap actually fetch really good money. Good for flipping, not keeping. Lol

Seeing as I just had problems with my Moronic-Tronic 261, are the carbed 462s still available anywhere?
Or may I be better of gettin the moron version along with Stihl's scanner?

Never tried one.
Comparable to a 064/066/660 stock, but built like a tank. Heavy... and heavy duty. The stock muffler really chokes them up and they respond very well to a good muffler mod. Parts support is going to be the questionable thing if your going to use one for production.

Is there another 661 in your future? Or dose the 500 fill the bill good enough for your use. I’m kinda interested in that.

I just ran 2 more tanks through my 261cm yesterday. Ran great. I guess you either get a good one or a bad one. Your dealer should be able to hook you up.

That is oldschool.

Sometimes old school is good school.

Never tried one.
Couple weeks ago I watched a Buckin vid. It was supposed to be about one of his Macs buckin up some big fir.
In the background you could see Hogan and his favorite, the 9010. He had it vertical burried in the wood. It had a rooster tail of chips behind it extending about 12'.

I love the dollies and wanted one before that vid. Now it's on my special saw wish list. Along with the hens tooth aka 166.
Now that's old school.
Yunck, yunck, yunck.

My 261c ran like a top for 3-4 yrs. Great RPM in the cuts and never let me down .... until it did.
Are you suggesting my dealer can hook me up with a MDG1 scanner? I heard you can only get one if you're a dealer or rub elbows with one.

Oh definitely. I need to get one before too long. The 500i is not going to replace a 661 or larger saw for me.

It’s hard to replace something like a 395 in big wood but all in the same right that wood has to be big enough to justify that big girl and long bar. With the 592 coming I don’t see it being a 395 replacement just because of what a 395 will run at the same size roughly.

No. Hook you up with fixing it so you can run it.

It is fixed. To the tune of $242 and change for a stupid moronic chip. I'd rather a carb....so I could give it love myself.
It has me 2nd guessing purchasing a 462 c-m. I want the carbed version.
