Lay them on their side and lightly tap the washer down with a hammer. Creates enough clearance that the eclip pops right off. They get crud built up behind the clutch drum and it holds it out
Yep, when string or weeds are wrapped up behind the washer, that’s when they won’t come off.

Just had that happen to me a few weeks ago when i was fixing carb issues on my old 020ave, apparently i didnt get the nut on the clutch tight enough, gave it a few piss revs and the whole clutch spun right off the crank on decel, and ran to the parking lot next door to the shop 🤣🤣🤣

Thankfully i was able to find all the pieces...
I’ve learned the hard way that saws aren’t meant to be run without the bar and chain, which helps the engine decelerate more smoothly and prevents the clutch from spinning itself off.
