It's a Stihl!
You are supposed to buy it, use it, break it, toss it, buy a new one - simple as that.

No, I don't know poop about Stihl OPE!

Curious if it had a replacement solenoid, where is this information held?
The MDG said all systems were fine, but the solenoid didn’t pass the test. It was running very rich for 10 minutes and then it cleared up and ran fine.
I don’t believe there is any information on whether or not the solenoid has been replaced. Information is stored in the ignition module/coil

Remember that coil I had that I couldn't reset and wouldn't let the saw run above 10k..it's like it was stuck and nothing fixed it.

Never did figure that out.

What I'm slowly gathering is that if a solenoid doesn’t fix it, it’s likely the wiring harness or coil

Yep could be. I’ve bought a couple new carbs that didn’t fix the issues in my case. They needed a wiring harness or coil.
I had a 661 that gave me a fit. Other people said they replaced the carb. I tried the coil, wiring harness, flywheel, etc. Back to the trigger unit. Seems you can get the carb without it....."they" said.

All I know was that mfer about beat me.

Or the trigger unit on the carb...

I should've tried that, I never had that happen on a saw before, it literally wouldn't rev out.

I replaced the coil on that 462 and it's fine to this day, seemed like it was stuck in some kind of rich mode...idk..

You bought the saw from me I'm talking about. I had bought it back from the guy I sold it to originally. After I finally got it fixed, I milled a whole log into 1" boards with it to be sure it was good.

I use it once a week or so..sometimes more.

Works fine for me.

A few weeks back we did some oaks and I probably put 7 or 8 tanks through it that day getting pieces down to size for the machine to grab, it was pretty hot that day..didn't skip a beat.

This is my friend's dead saw. He says that he poured red stihl oil and then she died. My saw is resting on the shelf. I use it very rarely :)

The fact remains that she not only received scuffs and burns, but simply fell apart.

The 462 has undergone some serious design changes. The case, cylinder, and piston are are different now.

These two pictures show the changes to the slug and the cases.

Old style.

New style.

Mastermind, I got carried away cutting into an old style cylinder and ended up taking .050 off the base and my intake is now at 90. Wondering if the new slug would work to fix my timing with skirt trimming or should I jb the intake back to 80-85ish. And do I need to jb the stratos too? Also will leaving ex at 105 help or should I shave it a little to keep with the design of the saw?
