I’ve always been under the impression adding case volume can help add to bottom end power but might hurt throttle response. But what do I know about science stuffs.

What he is doing is adding more area to the transfer inlets. In the 500i, that has to help.

I'm going to try what Kevin @huskihl suggested earlier in the thread, however the air diverter on this MS462 has already been removed....by the piston! I'll just need to check there's no other holes punched in the case by the debris.

I’ve seen probably 50 like that from this group and some of the Facebook chainsaw groups. There should’ve been a recall

I'm planning on using the new style cases, and top end. Looks like everything else is the same.

Anyone else done this?
If you had used tannerite to make it go boom, you could get away without the new style cases. Not sure about the new top end. I tried 5lbs of tannerite and I think the top end was still usable, but that was a Poulan Pro, not an over priced boat anchor.

It was enough of a problem that a few years into production (mid 2023 I think), they changed the cases, piston, and cylinder. Once the piston gets worn a little bit it rocks enough in the bore to hit a flange that is cast into the case. I’ve had a couple in the shop but none bad enough to go through the bottom of the case. I have also had one or two that you could see a crack on the bottom of the skirt but the chunk hadn’t broken out yet to cause damage
Any idea what revision the standard carb 462 is on? I know to avoid any before April 2021. I'm considering one as a 044 replacement due to the springy anti vibe, these posts scare me.

I think the standard carb model came out before the change. As far as I know they are still available on the current model as well.
