So far my guess is: 62.6 cc new saws 363.0 and 400.1 would be "the same" except of the carb adjustment (perhaps also coil, piston, ...?). Cc-wise it will fit just between 261 and 462. So basically one model will replace 59.0 cc 362 and 66.8 cc 400. And last but not least, both well established model names "36x" and "400" will remain, so marketing dept is happy.
Stihl can get away without the mtronic in brazil and other countries with different emission laws.
Makes the saw a little cheaper too for such parts of the world.

I’m not going with the cheaping out thing it’s all about the users wanting the saw companies to save every ounce. The new one is 10 oz lighter I guess so same power less weight ect.
Well they seem to have cut weight, but where. And Stihl are like all the rest, make it as cheap as they can.
I would rather a little more weight if it meant a stronger chassis or sprocket cover, or heavier crank that
would be more durable, than save a few dollars on materials for all those components and have breakages
happen.
Why do away with the MS400 when it was proving to be a reliable saw, the only thing I
can think on is cost cutting.
Would rather seen the MS362 disappear as the 400 could easily replace it and more
than compete with the Husqvarna 562 for weight and power.

The reason it’s all going is the 362 is old and the 400 was based on it, probably was more of a quick fill in design to use mostly in parts. Now the new 400 splits the difference in cc has same power and is lighter. You and I don’t care about a bit of weight but we’re the minority. Sometimes light designs cost more, who knows the rod and crank may be forged differently for strength. Time will tell

It’s fun to see a new saw come out, but speculating about what it will or won’t be at this point is kind of futile. It could be a hit. It could be a turd. Truth is nobody knows because there is very little hands on time with it yet.🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s not the Mtronic that matters here or in other countries as every saw other than the 500 and 400 is available with an adjustable carburetor. 362 and the 400 are both strato to meet epa emissions, which isn’t an issue in the other 75% of the world

Say, anyone know what the wrap kit on the 400 adds for weight? I'm talking Wrap + Clutch Cover?

Can’t imagine it will be another 10-12 oz for the wrap and west coast cover so basically not anything. I personally like regular handles and wouldn’t buy a wrap again. I had a 500 that way and got rid of the wrap and went regular handle but kept the big clutch cover

Interesting, I had seen the new version supposedly had more torque than the current version and he confirmed that.
I'm going to wait and see how the new one performs in reviews before I decide which one to buy.

Easier to mod the port I guess lol. Way less grinding.
That new MS400 looks like a small 462 as well.
